The first part of the Christmas event 2022 in Pokémon GO starts today, Thursday. The bonuses, times, raids, spawns, costumes, and the optional ticket are now known.
What is this event? During Christmas time, a large winter holiday event starts in Pokémon GO, which is divided into two parts. Part 1 already begins on Thursday and runs until December 23.
Niantic has now revealed what content the event brings. We show you in the overview what to expect.
Winter Holidays 2022 in Pokémon GO – Start, Content, Shinys
When does it start? The event “Winter Holidays: Part 1” begins on Thursday (December 15) at 10:00 AM local time. It will be active until Friday, December 23, at 10:00 AM local time.
New Mega Pokémon: For the first time, you can find Mega-Firnontor in Pokémon GO. You will meet it in the Mega Raids. There is a chance to receive a shiny version.
New Shiny: For the first time, you can encounter Shiny Arktip.
Bonuses: During the event, you will receive 50% more experience points for won raids. Additionally, you can hold up to 40 gifts in your bag until the end of the event.
Furthermore, Kobalium, which you catch during the event, will know the move Sanctoklinge. This causes 60 damage in trainer battles and 55 damage in gym battles and raids.
Wilderness: In the wilderness, you will encounter Pikachu with winter carnival outfit*, Quiekel*, Botogel*, Schneppke*, Seemops with holiday outfit*, Shnebedeck*, Gelatina, Petznief* and Arktip*. You will more rarely encounter Alola-Vulpix*, Damhirplex with holiday outfit* and Frigometri in the wilderness. (Pokémon marked with a * can be encountered as shiny)
Eggs: From 7 km eggs that you receive during the event, the following Pokémon can hatch: Sniebel*, Kussilla*, Amarino, Arktip* or Krabbox.

Field Research: From the special field researches during the Christmas event, you can encounter: Pikachu with winter carnival outfit*, Alola-Vulpix*, Jurob*, Muschas*, Rossana*, Damhirplex with holiday outfit*, Seemops with holiday outfit* and Krabbox. You will more rarely encounter Sniebel* and Glaziola with underwater holiday outfit there.
For certain tasks, you will receive Mega Energy for Rexblisar.
Avatar Items: In the shop, you will find the following festive items during and after the event:

Ticket for Limited Research on Winter Holidays Part 1
How much does it cost? You can get the ticket for 5 US dollars (approximately 5 €).
What’s included? The ticket is optional and does not need to be purchased for the above bonuses. If you buy the ticket, you will unlock a limited research. From it, you will receive:
- An event avatar pose
- Two incubators
- One incense
- Mega Energy for Rexblisar
- Encounters with various event Pokémon
How long does it run? You must complete the research by Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 8:00 PM. This means that all tasks must be completed and the rewards collected by then.
