This version is supposed to help you find rare Pokémon. Even when Pokémon GO is closed.
This is how the new Adventure Sync helps you
This is the new feature: A few weeks ago, this feature for Adventure Sync was found in an update.
It can find Pokémon that are near you but that you do not yet have in your PokéDex. This works even if you have closed the app.
So if you are a beginner, or if you are still missing some Pokémon in your Dex in Pokémon GO, this feature will soon help you find them.
When will the feature come? So far, it is only being tested in 2 countries. If the tests go well there, it will certainly soon find its way to other countries as well. However, there is no exact release date for this.
What happens to the other features of Adventure Sync? At least in Australia and New Zealand, there are no restrictions. So everything works as before.
They only need to enable the new feature for their device. No further settings need to be made.
What does it change for the players? Those who play Pokémon GO regularly should not notice much difference with the feature. Most Pokémon that you do not have appear very rarely or not at all in the wild.
For newcomers or returnees, this feature should be very useful. You will receive a direct notification on your phone and can continue working on your PokéDex.
