Pokémon GO is getting an interesting crossover with Ed Sheeran soon. The musician announced this through various social media. What exactly this crossover entails is not yet known. But there are already dozens of memes.
What will this crossover be about? This is still not entirely clear. Ed Sheeran posted a message with the hashtag #PokemonGOxEdSheeran.
Additionally, he wrote “Coming soon..”, which translates to “Kommt bald” in German. However, there are no more specific details available yet.

The associated tweet was shared directly from the official Pokémon GO account, but also without significant information.
What does Ed Sheeran think about Pokémon? The musician seems to have a fondness for Pokémon. He has already made several statements about Pokémon, such as that Pokémon Black is supposed to be “crazy” or that Articuno is his favorite Pokémon (via YouTube).
The photo of him and Snorlax, which we chose as the title image, is also making the rounds in the community (via Instagram).

How are the fans reacting? Currently, there are two camps. On one side, there are players who react with rather frustrated comments, such as “will he finally fix PvP” or “nobody asked for this”. However, they are more dissatisfied with the app and the game than with the idea of a crossover.

Some players hope that Ed Sheeran will get an avatar in Pokémon GO that can be unlocked. That would be one of the best rewards many can imagine.
Other players, however, are only expecting a new Pikachu hat somehow related to Ed Sheeran. Pikachu hats are a meme in Pokémon GO because there are constantly new versions, such as with a Christmas hat, party hat, or Ash Ketchum’s hat.
However, the most likely addition will be related to his music. Earlier this year, there was a crossover between Pokémon and various singers like Katy Perry and Post Malone, who recorded an album for the 25th anniversary of the series.
