In Pokémon GO, the Pokémon Day 2020 starts in February and lasts for a week. As bonuses, there are armored Mewtwo, party hats, and more. We will show you what the event brings.
What was announced? At the end of February 2020, Pokémon GO is hosting a celebration for Pokémon Day. It celebrates the release of the first Pokémon games, which were released in Japan on February 27, 1996.

When? From February 25 to March 2, 2020
What bonuses? You can expect Pokémon with party hats, armored Mewtwo, clone Pokémon, special trades, and more
How does the event work?
The party hats are back: After the event starts, you will find Pikachu and Eevee with party hats in the wild. During this time, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in festive looks will hatch from 7 km eggs. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter these special Pokémon as Shiny.
Armored Mewtwo in Raids: In raid battles, you can find the armored Mewtwo during the event period. It has the special charged attack Psystrike.
Clone Pokémon in Raids: Special clone Pokémon appear in level 4 raids. These are Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. You can photograph them with the snapshot feature and with luck find a clone Pikachu.
Special Raid Day on March 1
When is the Raid Day? This Raid Day is part of the event and takes place on March 1 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time.
What is special?
- In level 2 raid battles, Nidorino with party hats will appear
- Gengar with party hats appears in level 4 raids and knows Lick and Psyshock
- Both party hat Nidorino and party hat Gengar can appear in their Shiny form
- During the event, you will receive up to 5 free raid passes
What do the players say about it?
The first reactions to the event are not particularly positive. Players complain that they do not want to find party hats on every Pokémon.
On Reddit , players write:
