In Pokémon GO, a new monster might soon be catchable. Early clues are already making trainers speculate about what could come.
Update: Some snapshots have now been shared via Twitter. They show that the Pokémon will likely be Galar-Ponita.
Here you can continue with the original announcement.
What are the clues? An announcement from Professor Willow described a discovery made through the official Twitter account of Pokémon GO.
The professor has been wandering around the Pokémon world again and has observed a “beautiful, colorful Pokémon” (or also: vibrant) that he has never seen before. Fortunately, he managed to take a few snapshots before it ran away. However, the players did not get to see the snapshots – instead, they were given the hint to stay alert.
So, more information about the new Pokémon can soon be expected. However, the first hint was enough to make trainers speculate about which monster it could be. What tips are there?
Galar-Ponita
Galar-Ponita often appears in tips from players on reddit and Twitter. However, the Galar variant is not the classic fire horse, but a Psychic-type unicorn.
Many trainers see a connection to the upcoming second DLC “The Crown Tundra” for the main Pokémon games Sword & Shield, which is released this week. The Crown Tundra is located in the Galar region – and Pokémon GO reacted with a Galar monster already upon the release of the first DLC.
Galar-Porenta suddenly appeared everywhere for a short while.
Kecleon
The chameleon Pokémon Kecleon also appears in some trainers’ tips. This monster is the last Pokémon missing from the 3rd generation. It’s a significant latecomer and has been expected for a long time.
It fulfills the “colorful/vibrant” part of the announcement, as it is a color changer that adapts to its environment. Moreover, its characteristic of camouflaging fits well with the theme of “snapshot” – for example, Farb Eagle was also introduced into the game through snapshots.
However, how well it fits the “beautiful” part of the announcement is a matter of opinion. Also, “running away” does not necessarily suit a Pokémon that would rather camouflage itself.
Keldeo
Some trainers also bring the monster Keldeo into play. It is a mysterious Pokémon of the 5th generation.
It belongs to the “Swords of Justice” – and the rest of this group includes the legendary monsters Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion already in the game. This would fit the description from the Twitter post, and recently, with the Autumn Event, another monster from generation 5, Sesokitz, was introduced into the game. Could Keldeo follow in the form of a special research task?
Of course, several other monsters could also fit the description. What do you think, which Pokémon did Professor Willow see? Do you have other ideas about which monsters the short description might apply to?
Speaking of new Pokémon: The egg pool in Pokémon GO has been significantly shaken up.
