Data miners have found initial information on how Power-Ups from PokéStops work in Pokémon GO. We have taken a look at this and will show you what the function is supposed to bring.
Where does the information come from? The PokeMiners, a group of data miners, regularly check the code of Pokémon GO to search for new information in the game. They then publish it to make it accessible to all players.
For some time now, the PokeMiners have been encountering the topic of Power-Ups in the game code regarding PokéStops. Now, initial information about how it works in Pokémon GO has been found.
Power-Ups at PokéStops
According to the current releases from the PokeMiners, further information regarding Power-Ups at PokéStops has now been found in the game. Trainer martycochrane has made this available on reddit for other trainers (via reddit.com).
This is how it is supposed to work: The game code indicates that the Power-Ups are triggered by scanning PokéStops. A certain number of scans must occur. However, the current information does not reveal what this number is.
The Power-Up is supposed to be activated for a certain period of time. Therefore, more scans must be performed regularly to keep a PokéStop leveled up for a longer time.
This is what the Power-Ups are supposed to bring
As the PokeMiners reported, no hints of increased range for Power-Ups have been found in the game code so far. For this reason, they assume that such an increase will not occur, contrary to earlier assumptions.
However, the Power-Ups should provide bonus items at PokéStops. This includes, among other things, all regular items. It could also include PokéCoins or Stardust. According to the PokeMiners, there could be multiple items, similar to the team bonus in gyms.
Additionally, hints about special spawns have been found. This means that in the game, depending on the type of stop, there could be different monsters to catch. Moreover, information was found in the game code indicating that there should be a statistic for trainers showing how often they have scanned PokéStops.
When the Power-Ups will be available at PokéStops in the game is still unknown. As soon as there is official information, you can read it here on MeinMMO.
What the data miners have found
Alongside the new details about the Power-Ups at PokéStops, the PokeMiners have also found additional information in the game code. There should be a tutorial for using tags. Furthermore, there are initial hints for innovations related to raids and your buddy. We have summarized these for you below:
- For the use of the buddy in raids, there should now be a category in the trainer achievements at the end of the raid.
- There are two new classifications for raids: Ex-Raids and “Event Legendary”.
- Legendary event Pokémon, such as Lugia with a hat, are supposed to bring extra balls.
- A hint regarding a new item in connection with catching the raid boss has been found.
As with other findings from the data miners, you should always view the information with a certain level of skepticism. These data points were merely found in the game code and are therefore not officially confirmed. In the past, many hints from the PokeMiners have turned out to be true, but they can always be adjusted or even eliminated by Niantic.
