In Pokémon GO you can battle against other trainers in the Battle League. Why it’s worth it, we will show you.
What is the Battle League? In the Battle League, you can compete against other trainers from around the world in Pokémon GO. There are 3 different areas in which you can compete.
- There is the Great League, where Pokémon up to 1500 CP can compete.
- The Ultra League, where the cap is 2500 CP for competing Pokémon.
- And the Master League, where there is no CP limit.
When you compete in the Battle League, you fight in so-called battle sets. A battle set, of which you can complete 4 per day, consists of 5 battles each. Depending on how many of these 5 battles you win, you will receive different rewards at the end of the set. And because of these rewards, it is worth participating in the Battle League, even if it might not be your favorite area in the game.

Stardust, Items, and even Legendary Pokémon as Rewards
How do I get Stardust in the Battle League? The first reward you always receive in the Battle League is Stardust. Even if you don’t win any of the 5 battles, you will receive Stardust at the end of the battle set. You can earn additional Stardust if you win a battle and an extra bonus if you win all 5 battles of the set.
How can I obtain Legendary Pokémon in the Battle League? Once you reach level 20 in the Battle League, you can also receive Legendary Pokémon as rewards. If you win 3 battles in a battle set, you will be rewarded with an encounter with a Pokémon. Which Pokémon it is will be randomly selected from a specific pool.
There is also a chance to encounter a Legendary Pokémon. This is always one that is currently available in 5*-raids in the game.
What items can I get in the Battle League? If you achieve 2 victories in a battle set, you will receive items as a reward. This can include evolution stones, charged or fast TMs, and even between 1 and 3 rare candies. These are particularly interesting for most, as they are rare and hard to obtain.
If you even achieve 4 victories in a battle set, you will receive an additional 3 guaranteed rare candies. So, if you have 4 victories in a battle set and get lucky with the items, you can obtain up to 6 rare candies in a single battle set.
Next Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 11:59 PM, there will be a Battle Day in Pokémon GO. On this day, you can play 20 battle sets in the Battle League instead of the usual 5. Additionally, the Stardust rewards will be quadrupled. This does not apply to the Stardust you receive at the end of a battle set, but for all rewards for victories.
