Riolu can get quite expensive in Pokémon GO. Because if you go by the probability of hatching a Riolu, you have to cough up 50€.
Why does Riolu cost 50€? The baby Pokémon only hatches from eggs, and then only very rarely. If you take this probability and convert it to the incubators used, you come to about 9200 coins, or about 50€.
This is, of course, just a rough theory. You might also get lucky and encounter a Riolu faster. However, it can also take longer.
The probability of Riolu in eggs
This is the probability: On TheSilphRoad, every trainer can log their hatched eggs. There you can also see how likely the Pokémon are to hatch from the eggs.
This is how you can find Riolu in 7-km eggs and in 10-km eggs. The chance of getting one is about the same in both eggs:
- Chance in 7-km eggs: 0.8% (22 out of 2849 eggs)
- Chance in 10-km eggs: 0.7% (7 out of 975 eggs)
This many eggs you need to hatch: If you calculate these numbers down, you get about 143 eggs that you need to hatch for one Riolu. This naturally costs a lot of incubators.
This many incubators you need: Overall, you can hatch 3 eggs per incubator. So you need 48 different incubators to get a Riolu.
This much you must invest in coins: Of course, the 48 incubators also cost quite a lot of coins. So you have to:
- spend 9600 coins on Super Incubators
- spend 7200 coins on regular incubators
These incubators then cost quite a bit of real money. If you buy the incubators in large offer boxes at cheaper prices, then you will at least end up at 50 euros. If you buy the incubators without offer boxes, then you can even spend around 80 euros for 9600 coins.
It’s also possible without real money: If you don’t spend any money on the game, but only take the daily 50 coins, then you have to save coins for at least 144 days. If you rely on Super Incubators, then you even have to wait 192 days.
This much you need to walk with an incubator: If you generally don’t buy incubators, you can still use the infinite incubator. However, you would have to walk at least 1000 kilometers to hatch the 143 eggs.
This is what the calculation is based on: This is just theory and probability. So you could also get lucky and get a Riolu after just 5 eggs. But you can also hatch way more than 143 eggs until you get your Riolu. The fact is, getting a Riolu is incredibly rare. There’s always a bit of luck involved.
