About the Community Day in February 2020, Pokémon GO lets you decide. 4 Pokémon are available for selection. We will show you the advantages and disadvantages of all Pokémon and tell you which monster is the most worthwhile.
This is how the Community Day works: Starting tomorrow, on February 1st, you can vote for your favorite all day long. You will need to solve quests for your Pokémon to participate in the vote.
4 Pokémon are up for selection:
- Dratini
- Machop
- Rhyhorn
- Vulpix/Alolan Vulpix
The Community Day itself will take place on February 22nd.
To make sure you have the best Pokémon to catch on Community Day, we provide you with an overview here.
All advantages and disadvantages for the Community Day in February
What to consider: When evaluating, we focus on various aspects. How useful is the Pokémon in raids? Is it strong in the new PvP League? Has the Shiny ever been available? Based on that, we have created a ranking of the 4 Pokémon.
Of course, every player also has their own attachment to the Pokémon and perhaps therefore a favorite.
Dratini

What advantages does Dratini offer? The evolution Dragonite is a Dragon-type Pokémon that is quite good in raids. It has stronger competitors like Rayquaza or Salamence, but Dragonite is still decent.
Moreover, Dragonite is likely to be a small icon for many players. After all, it has been one of the favorites of players since Generation 1.
What disadvantages does Dratini have? Many players are no longer interested in Dratini because it already had a Community Day. Those who were present in February 2018 probably already have heaps of Shinies and Candies. The Shinies are therefore quite worthless.
In addition, Dragonite learns the move Superpower. The Fighting-type attack is of no use to Dragonite in raids and arenas. In PvP, it becomes more versatile, but definitely not much better. It’s an improvement, but not a significant one.
Machop
What advantages does Machop bring? Machamp, the evolution of Machop, has always been one of the best Pokémon in the game and has long been essential in any battle team. It completely annihilates Heiteira in arenas and is truly useful.
Moreover, the Shiny Machamp strongly resembles the Hulk, as it is also green. Building an army of Hulks is therefore quite appealing.
What disadvantages does Machop have? The Shiny form of Machop is already in the game and many trainers may already own an example. They might be annoyed if their previously rare Shiny suddenly becomes “worthless” because every player can easily obtain it on Community Day.
Machamp learns Counter on Community Day. This is a Dark-type move, not much is known about it yet. It may not be interesting for raids, as there are significantly better Dark-type attackers. It could be an alternative for PvP, but that is still not known.
Those who choose Machop primarily for Machamp’s usability may be misguided. Machamp has lost its rank as the best Fighting-type attacker to Lucario and Conkeldurr. It remains strong, but there are better alternatives.
Vulpix

What advantages does Vulpix offer? At first glance, Vulpix seems pretty useless, but that’s misleading. First, it is striking that with Ninetales one of the best Shinies is coming to the game. Ninetales is gray and blue and is likely to impress some players.
Additionally, with Vulpix, you get two Pokémon for a Community Day. Alolan Vulpix will be available through raids and field research. So you could snag 2 Shinies.
Furthermore, the move Weather Ball, which both Ninetales can learn, is interesting. In PvP, Weather Ball is one of the best moves and would catapult Ninetales to the top ranks of the best Pokémon for the Super League. Those who have gotten involved in the new PvP League for trainer battles may be happy about this move.
What disadvantages does Vulpix have? The major disadvantage of Vulpix is apparent: Ninetales is completely useless in raids, and anyone not focusing on PvP will not get a new, strong Pokémon here.
There’s also the issue that Alolan Vulpix is already in the game, and many trainers may have their valuable Shiny devalued by such an event.
Rhyhorn
What advantages does Rhyhorn provide? The list of advantages for Rhyhorn is long. First, there is a noticeable difference between the shiny and normal versions of Rhyhorn. Rhyperior is even partially yellow and looks quite special.
Additionally, Rhyhorn is the only Pokémon in the selection that does not have an available Shiny yet. This would give every player an advantage.
Rhyperior learns the move Rock Wrecker, which is not yet available in the game. While Rhyperior may not surpass Rampardos, it could come close. If the move is as effective as Water Gun or Aura Sphere, it would be the second best Rock-type attacker. This type is often needed in raids and is therefore always useful.
What disadvantages does Rhyhorn have? Those who focus completely on PvP might be a bit disappointed here. However, this can only be clearly stated once the values of the move are known.
Additionally, it should be noted that even if Rhyperior climbs among the best Rock attackers, it will not be the best attacker. Rampardos will likely remain number 1.
Until the Community Day starts on February 22nd, there may still be more events waiting for us:
