In Pokémon GO you can decide on the Community Days in September and October this weekend. 4 monsters are available for selection. We will show you the advantages and disadvantages of all Pokémon.
This is the choice: On August 23, this Sunday, you can participate in a poll for the Community Days via Twitter. 4 Pokémon are available for selection, and the two monsters with the most votes will then get the next Community Days. The options are:
- Charmander
- Grimer
- Caterpie
- Porygon
Every trainer only has one vote – so make sure to choose wisely.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Choosing the Community Days
Here’s what to consider: Several points are crucial for the evaluation. How strong is the Pokémon in raids or in PvP? Is the shiny worth it? Has the Community Day happened before?
Of course, every trainer has their own personal connection to the monsters, which we have not considered here.
Charmander
What advantages does Charmander bring? Many trainers likely associate their first Pokémon experiences with this Pokémon. It definitely has a high nostalgia factor. Moreover, shiny Charizard looks really cool since it is black.
For PvP fans, the exclusive move “Flamethrower” is interesting. It is of Dragon type and is very fast.
What disadvantages does Charmander bring? One of the first Community Days was focused on Charmander. Anyone who played there will likely have several shinies of it. So, it’s not worth it for experienced players.
Additionally, the exclusive move for raid battles is rather useless. The previously exclusive move “Blast Burn” made Charizard a strong Fire attacker. A Dragon move is therefore not needed.
Grimer
What advantages does Grimer bring? This involves two forms that can be obtained. While normal Grimer appears in eggs and the wild, Alolan Grimer is available in raids. You could secure two shinies at once.
For PvP fans, there’s also a strong move available. Both Muk and Alolan Muk can learn “Fire Spin.” It offers the Pokémon more variability in the league.
What disadvantages does Grimer bring? Just like Charmander, shiny Grimer is also already available. However, it is significantly rarer than Charmander, which might frustrate many trainers if their shiny Grimer loses value due to this event.
For trainers who only battle in raids, the move is useless. Muk currently plays no role in the meta and that will not change with Fire Spin.
Caterpie
What advantages does Caterpie bring? The advantage of Caterpie is that we haven’t had a Community Day for it yet. Caterpie has two evolutions, so you need at least 3 shinies.
The exclusive move “Hurricane” is again exciting for PvP fans. This makes Butterfree a bit more versatile, and you can surprise your opponent well with a Butterfree.
What disadvantages does Caterpie bring? Caterpie is already available as shiny, and it’s been so for quite some time. There will be several trainers who already own Caterpie as shiny.
The move and Butterfree itself are totally useless for raids. So if you can’t relate to PvP, you shouldn’t be looking forward to Butterfree.
Porygon
What advantages does Porygon bring? Porygon is the only monster in the poll that doesn’t have a shiny yet. So if you want to catch a new shiny, you should go for Porygon.
As an exclusive move, Porygon-Z learns the normal move “Tri Attack.” This is a brand new move, and its values are still unknown. However, it could be especially interesting in PvP since normal moves are usually not very useful in raids.
What disadvantages does Porygon bring? Compared to the other Pokémon, the list of disadvantages here is somewhat shorter. Porygon and its evolutions are not useful for raids and gyms. So if you were hoping for a strong attacker at the Community Day, you will be disappointed.
Which Pokémon should you choose now? From a shiny standpoint, Porygon seems to be the most desirable. It’s the only Pokémon that would be new as shiny.
If you enjoy PvP, you can choose any monster since the moves are mainly designed for the PvP league.
If you’re looking for a strong attacker, you’ll most likely find it in Charizard. It’s a solid fire attacker, but there are better alternatives available. Thus, Charizard does not rank among the best attackers of its type.
