Currently, trainers can challenge the Team Rocket duo Jessie and James again in Pokémon GO. However, some trainers simply cannot find them and have a big wish. We looked at what has happened and explain it to you.
What kind of ruffians are we talking about? For some time now, the two Rocket ruffians Jessie and James have been appearing in Pokémon GO during certain events. This is currently the case for the Jungle Event and trainers can defeat them until October 15, 2021, at 10:00 AM.
The ruffian duo consists of characters from the original series, who are usually not found in the game. Just like in the series, they travel in a Meowth balloon and cause trouble. However, the battle against the two is worthwhile, as in addition to 2 mysterious parts you will receive as a reward, you might also encounter a shiny Scyther or Pinsir with a bit of luck.
Where are Jessie and James?
Many trainers naturally hope to encounter the Rocket duo. Jessie and James have been around in the game for a few days now, yet there are still reports on social media from players who have not seen them yet.
Under a Twitter post from Pokémon GO reminding that Jessie and James can be battled, some trainers share their experiences. For instance, Conspyrecy writes: “I’m on vacation, so I’m playing almost around the clock and I still haven’t seen any: only the regular ones.” (via twitter.com).
How can you find Jessie and James? They currently spawn in the game alongside all other Rocket balloons up to four times a day. They appear in their typical Meowth balloon, setting them apart from the other ruffians.
Which balloon you are shown remains random. So it may happen that you unfortunately only encounter the normal Team GO Rocket ruffians in their black balloons. Unfortunately, you currently have no other way to encounter Jessie and James.
Trainers express a big wish
Many trainers are looking for the two ruffians mainly to get one of the two shiny Shadow Pokémon. However, this opportunity currently only exists through Jessie and James. For this reason, some trainers make a clear wish to Pokémon GO: the spawn rate of the Meowth balloon should be increased.
The trainer VGMike7 is also angry that so few Meowth balloons are spawning. He picks up a suggestion from another Twitter user and writes: “Stop promising too much and delivering too little. In other words, increase their spawn rate!” (via twitter.com).
Would an implementation be feasible?
Increasing the spawn rate does not seem like a bad idea. Trainers who have not yet had the opportunity to challenge the two could also hope for an encounter. Furthermore, it would not be the first time that Meowth balloons are found more frequently in the game.
Jessie and James were also around in Pokémon GO in December 2020. At that time, reports piled up about players not being able to find the two ruffians. However, there was already a day planned beforehand when the duo would spawn more frequently.
For the current event, no increased spawn rate of the Meowth balloon for individual days has been planned so far. Trainers also do not have much time left to challenge the two, as they will be gone again on October 15.
Whether Niantic takes the community’s criticism to heart and lets the Rocket duo spawn more frequently is not yet known.
