Last year, the GO Fest was held in Pokémon GO for the first time in Germany. Will the GO Fest 2020 be back here? At least hopes are high in Dortmund.
This was the GO Fest 2019: Last year, the GO Fest took place for the first time in Dortmund and thus also for the first time in Germany. It ran from July 4 to 7 and offered thousands of players a unique challenge – if they had secured one of the tickets for the event.
Among other things, there were rare Shinies, the regional Pokémon Venuflibis, and a wonderfully designed area to discover in Westfalenpark. Also, Jirachi appeared during the festival. Many things thrilled the players – and the city apparently was satisfied as well.
Dortmund wants it again: According to an article from “Ruhr-Nachrichten,” Dortmund is hopeful to host the GO Fest once more. The city has reserved the weekend from August 7 to 10 in the tourism calendar for this event in Westfalenpark. However, as confirmed by Niantic to PokémonGOHub, this date is not accurate. We advise against booking flights or hotels to or in Dortmund at this time. Wait until the date is officially announced by Niantic.
That Westfalenpark is suitable was proven not only during the GO Fest: A Safari Zone was also held in Dortmund.
In this regard, it’s not surprising that the city is again interested in a Pokémon event. However, there is probably not yet a commitment from Niantic – Dortmund should still be a promising candidate.

Where else could the GO Fest go? If the GO Fest ultimately does not land in Dortmund, the hope remains high that a branch of the event will also take place in Germany this year.
