The trainers of Pokémon GO are currently observing strange sky phenomena in the game. In addition to a night sky during the day, there are also strange rings visible. What do they mean? We at MeinMMO have looked into it and will explain it to you.
What happened? For a few days now, the sky in Pokémon GO has been darkened. It resembles a night sky, even though it is midday. Strange rings appear, which open and close like portals. Therefore, some trainers are puzzled and are asking for advice in social networks, such as our Pokémon GO Facebook group (via facebook.com).
This is what the portals in the sky mean
Anyone who regularly plays Pokémon GO will know that this is not the first time such a phenomenon has occurred in the game’s sky. On the second day of Go Fest 2021, a similar night sky was visible, also adorned with golden rings.
The reason for this representation in the game is the Pokémon Hoopa. The mysterious Pokémon is capable of opening portals with its rings and transporting things from one place to another. This is why it was responsible for the numerous legendary raids during Go Fest.
To first recruit Hoopa in the game, Niantic changed the sky that day and integrated Hoopa’s typical golden rings there. It was also included in the start screen in this context.
But why are there rings in the sky again? The 3rd part of the Hyperbonus in Pokémon GO, which you earned during Go Fest, is currently running. Seven cool new Pokémon from the Galar region have been introduced into the game. And once again, Hoopa is responsible for the events.
Niantic also showcased this in their trailer for the current event. Anyone who watched it surely noticed that the video of Pokémon GO also showed these rings in the sky. Due to this close connection between the ongoing event and Hoopa, Niantic has once again adjusted the sky accordingly.
Can you catch Hoopa in Pokémon GO?
Even though Niantic has already recruited Hoopa through various means, such as the golden portals in the night sky, there has been no opportunity to catch this mysterious Pokémon so far. Some trainers have been speculating since Go Fest 2021 about when it will finally be released.
No official date has been confirmed yet, but many indications suggest that it won’t be long now. Dataminers have already found images of Hoopa in the game code. Since Niantic wants to bring back Ex-Raids, some trainers hope that they can encounter Hoopa there.
