At the Christmas event 2017 in Pokémon GO there seems to be a special Star Piece offer. Leaks are coming from the AppStore.
There is no official announcement of the Christmas event in Pokémon GO from Niantic yet. However, a Reddit user found that the Taiwanese Google Play Store is already advertising for a Christmas event.
We expect that Niantic will officially announce the celebrations soon. Until then, the contents of the Christmas event may still change.

Pokémon GO Christmas 2017
Unfortunately, there is no date in the leak of the Christmas event. However, the Google translation reveals that there will be special offer boxes with Star Piece contents. Reddit user kk5566 shared this screenshot with the SilphRoad community.
The translation indicates that new offers and new Pokémon are ready. There will be special offer packages that include incubators and the new Star Piece (probably “Star Piece” in English). More than 10 new types of Pokémon from the Hoenn region are expected to be unlocked in the game.

The new Star Piece item
The new Star Piece item has already been found in the code of one of the last patches. According to current research, the item offers a 50% Stardust bonus for in-game actions for 30 minutes after use.
It is likely that the Star Piece will be available in three offer sizes in the shop. Dataminers found the amounts of 1, 8, and 25 associated with the item. The values or bonuses of the item may change before its release.

Most of you probably already assumed that there would also be a special Pikachu for this event. It is unclear whether it will be an identical version to last year, or if the event Pikachu will look slightly different from year to year.
Additionally, Santa Pichu has been in Pokémon GO’s code since summer. Perhaps there will be a surprise regarding this at this year’s Christmas event.
That Botogel is also announced in the screenshot is no longer a big surprise. It was already suspected for the next 21 Pokémon that are supposed to come to Pokémon GO.
