This week, the big GO Fest 2020 is happening in Pokémon GO. If you don’t have a ticket yet, you should consider buying one soon. We’ll help you make that decision.
What is the GO Fest 2020? This is supposed to be the biggest party for Pokémon GO fans in 2020. However, due to the Corona pandemic, the event will take place worldwide and no longer at a fixed location, as it did in 2019.
At the GO Fest, special spawns, a new special research task, and many more bonuses await you. However, you will also need to pay €16.99 for it. We will tell you whether the purchase is worth it.
GO Fest 2020 – Are you missing out on anything?
What bonuses are already known? So far, not everything about the GO Fest is known. So we have a rough idea of what will happen, but the exact details are not yet available. Here’s what we know so far:
- The GO Fest will last 2 days. On July 25th and 26th, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM local time
- On the first day, there will be 5 different habitats that change every hour: Fire, Water, Plant, Battle, and Friendship
- 75 different Pokémon are expected to appear on the first day
- A special research task, which is only available on the first day, must be completed
- On the second day, something special is supposed to happen, which has not yet been defined in detail
Which Pokémon are known? None of the Pokémon has been officially confirmed yet. However, they can be seen in the photos of the GO Fest and will likely also be found at the event. This was also confirmed by Michael Steranka in our interview about the GO Fest.
So far, Pokémon such as Kaumalat, Relaxo, and Alola-Kokowei have been shown in the images. The regional Pokémon Sengo and Vipitis have also been featured. However, according to Michael Steranka, another regional surprise is to follow.
Speculations: There have already been some teasers suggesting that Mega Evolutions will come to the GO Fest. Additionally, a leak regarding Crypto-Mewtu has been found.
The second day holds some surprises that are still unpredictable. Generally, it is unclear what will happen there.
What advantages does the event offer? Ticket holders will especially be able to catch a lot of Shinies. Niantic confirmed that the Shiny rate is supposed to be increased, so you can certainly grab some Shinies.
So if you enjoy shiny hunting, you will definitely have a great time at the event. You can also look forward to some rare Shinies that will appear there.
Additionally, you will gain access to a new mysterious Pokémon. Victini has been confirmed for the special research. Generally, other players without a ticket will also gain access to this Pokémon later on, but you will be prioritized here due to your ticket purchase.
Otherwise, you mainly buy a lot of fun and a special experience in the game for €17. The GO Fest is basically like a big Community Day, but covers several Pokémon.
Is there a lot to miss without a ticket? You don’t have a huge disadvantage if you don’t buy a ticket for the GO Fest. Sooner or later, you will still be able to obtain the Pokémon that appear there.
You just need to ask yourself whether you can wait that long and whether you can live without the many Shinies.
Is the purchase worth it? Compared to other GO Fests and live events, you can’t go wrong with €17. The last GO Fest in Dortmund cost over €40 with taxes and only lasted one day. Here, you get more hours of gameplay fun and pay only half.
Niantic had already run several Safari Zones from home at the beginning of the year, proving that this concept works well. A purchase would not be completely wrong.
