In the new Pokémon GO update, the sounds of Generation 3 are finally here. The release cannot be far away.
Trainers, you must be very strong now. In the past weeks, every Pokémon GO patch has been closely examined for changes regarding Generation 3. The only thing missing was the sounds of the monsters. Without them, the third generation could not be released.
The new update, which is currently rolling out, introduces exactly these sounds and Halloween changes to the game. The most important preparations have been made – reason for excitement!
Pokémon GO Gen 3 Release on Halloween?
The new update 0.79.2 is supposed to fix some bugs in the game. As we know, there have been many of them recently. Glitched avatars or game crashes annoyed trainers all over the world. Now we want to focus on the great news concerning Generation 3!
The experts from TheSilphRoad have looked into the new update in the last few hours and checked for code differences compared to the previous versions. Here are their results, which Niantic did not mention in the patch notes:
Gen 3 sounds are in the game!
The APK for update 0.79.2 has been thoroughly examined. In the new game version of Pokémon GO, the sounds (cries) for the Pokémon of Generation 3 are now included. The sounds exist for each species up to PokéDex number 386 (Deoxys). Here, the developers are not cutting any corners!
New Gen 3 badge
In addition to the badges for Kanto (Gen 1) and Johto (Gen 2), there is now a new badge that is referenced in the code as “BADGE_POKEDEX_ENTRIES_GEN3”. Another clear sign for Generation 3.
Halloween Event
A new designation for “HALLOWEEN_2017” has been found in the code. This designation was discovered by APK miners near the other Pokémon variants.
This “could” mean that we might see special Halloween variants during the holidays. But this is just a speculation. At least we know that work is being done on the Halloween event for 2017.
Halloween music
A note about new music in Pokémon GO has been found. In the code, it says “mapHalloweenNightMusic” and that could mean the following:
- Either a special Halloween map appears at night in Pokémon GO, or
- New Halloween music could play during the event (or just on Halloween)
The experts dug even deeper into the sound files and also found a theme for Lavender Town! Pokémon fans will surely remember: This is the town with the Pokémon Tower, where ghosts (in Gen 1 and Gen 3) could be found. A nostalgia trip awaits many trainers here.
Halloween wallpaper for Pokémon GO
On the new Halloween wallpaper, you can already see a few monsters (Sableye, Shuppet, Bannet, and Drifloon) from Gen 3, which is why we expect Gen 3 monsters for Halloween.
This also fits with Niantic’s announcement that there will be new monsters for the PokéDex this Halloween. Whether these will be “all” or only some of the monsters remains to be seen.
