The new Pokémon GO update 0.95.3 for Android and 1.65.3 for iOS is on the way and brings exciting changes. A new, special monster and hints about quests are in the code. Can we soon submit PokéStop suggestions?
A new update with the version number 0.95.3 for Android and 1.65.3 for iOS is rolling out for Pokémon GO. Officially, the update is supposed to activate the Facebook feature that allows linking your Pokémon GO accounts with Facebook.
As APK mining shows, there is much more hidden in the update that you can look forward to.
0.95.3 Patch Notes – Facebook Linking
As the developers from Niantic explain, the new update should allow a connection to Facebook. This means that you can link your accounts and then log in to Pokémon GO with your Facebook login details. We have explained the Facebook connection to Pokémon GO in more detail here.
Additionally, the update fixes bugs that occurred while playing. Data mining shows which hidden changes have also made their way into the game’s code. When these will take effect is still uncertain. Nevertheless, trainers are already looking forward to them.
0.95.3 APK Mining – Spinda, new monster with 8 variants
A new monster species has been discovered by data miners at TheSilphRoad. Spinda is now found in the code of Pokémon GO (not yet in the wild). It is a very special monster from the third generation. It is said that Spinda has unique patterns.
It has also been found in the code that there will be 8 different variants of Spinda, each presumably with different patterns.
New Venusaur Attack and “Meteorologist”
As the Pokémon GO team announced on the evening of March 16, Venusaur will be able to learn the attack Flora Statue on Community Day. This attack is now in the game’s code. Additionally, an attack with four variants is being activated in Pokémon GO.
This attack is called Meteorologist and is the signature move of Formeo. The special thing about it is that the attack is actually Normal type but changes its type based on the weather. From other games in the series, we know that it changes as follows:
- Clear weather, Fog – Normal
- Sunny – Fire
- Rain – Water
- Hail – Ice
- Sandstorm – Rock
In addition, the following new attacks have been found in the code that could be released soon:
- V0292_MOVE_WEATHER_BALL_FIRE
- V0293_MOVE_WEATHER_BALL_ICE
- V0294_MOVE_WEATHER_BALL_ROCK
- V0295_MOVE_WEATHER_BALL_WATER
Again hints on quests in Pokémon GO
In the data mining of the last Pokémon GO updates, hints about quests often appeared. The community assumes these are missions related to your Pokémon adventures that can reward you.
New is now “ACTIVITY_CATCH_QUEST_POKEMON_ENCOUNTER”, which is encountered alongside hints like “ACTIVITY_CATCH_FIRST_CATCH_OF_DAY”, “ACTIVITY_CATCH_AR_PLUS_BONUS”, “ACTIVITY_CATCH_CURVEBALL”.
It therefore seems that at least some of the quests will involve catching Pokémon in the future. Until Niantic officially explains the feature, it probably will not be released in the game.
Submitting PokéStop suggestions – in Pokémon GO?
Exciting changes continue. Keep in mind that these have only been found in the code of Pokémon GO and have not yet been officially announced. As with the other changes, there is no guarantee that this feature will ever be released.
A new POI feature has been discovered. POI stands for Point of Interest and translates to noteworthy places or attractions. This is intended to give trainers the opportunity to submit PokéStop suggestions to Niantic without using Ingress.
The following data will be collected by the tool:
- Description text
- Photo
- Longitude
- Latitude
Based on the code, it can be inferred that the submissions will work similarly to Ingress and will be reviewed individually. If this feature is really activated, it would be a great change for many trainers in rural areas.
How do you like the discoveries from the data mining?
