A new update for Pokémon GO is on its way to you and addresses some issues in the game. The patch 0.81.1 for Android and 1.51.1 for iOS is currently rolling out and will be gradually released for different regions.
We will show you the most important changes from the update here.
Update 0.81.1 / 1.51.1 Patchnotes / APK Mining
A new version of Pokémon GO will be available to you in the coming days. The update was announced by the developers on the night of November 2. What changes, Niantic explains in the patch notes:
- A bug was fixed that prevented trainers from powering up their Pokémon to max CP.
- A bug in raids was fixed. This bug caused a trainer’s damage contribution to reset if they participated in the fight again.
- Additionally, more bugs were fixed and the performance of Pokémon GO improved.
These are the official details regarding the changes of the update. In the meantime, data miners from TheSilphRoad have already delved into the patch and uncovered further changes.
New engine version promises better performance
Pokémon GO is based on the Unity3D engine. Since Pokémon GO was released about 16 months ago, the engine has also undergone significant changes. In the new version 0.81.1, Niantic uses the new Unity 2017.1 version. This is a major update that should significantly improve performance.
Update of memory management
Experts are still not entirely sure what the new “memory manager” entails. It is suspected that there is a special handling of the memory of various smartphones. Warnings may even appear if a device’s memory becomes overloaded, which could affect the game. However, this is not yet confirmed.
GO+ adjustments
Data miners noticed changes regarding the handling of the GO Plus gadget. These could simply be important for the transition to Unity 2017.1. Adjustments to the Bluetooth connection were also found.
Adjustments to the anti-cheat blacklist
Niantic has made further adjustments to the anti-cheat measures, which likely target known GPS spoofing apps. According to experts, there are now even better ways for Niantic to combat GPS fake apps.
7 new attacks possibly on the way to us!
While no new moves were directly added to the APK of Pokémon GO, there are indications of at least seven new moves that might already be on their way to us.
In the files for the visual attack effects, there are the following new attacks in version 0.81.1:
- Kismetwunsch
- Draco Meteor
- Psyschub
- Surfer
- Kaskade (As a fast move)
- Gähner (As a fast move)
- And Bodycheck (Already existed as a charged move, now as a fast move)
These are the first evidence of the attacks from Gen 3 in the game. Kismetwunsch, Psyschub, and Gähner have existed since Generation 3, Draco Meteor since Generation 4, and Surfer, Kaskade, and Bodycheck belong to Generation 1.
This does not mean that you can already use the new attacks in update 0.81.1. The visual effects are only in the APK.
An important preparation for the further Pokémon from Generation 3, which are supposed to be released in December 2017.
