Actually, a different Pokémon GO update was already in rollout. The developers had to halt that. Now they offer an alternative.
For Pokémon GO trainers, there is now the new update 0.79.4, which is currently in rollout. In the next few days, you should be able to find and download the update in your app stores. However, there is no exact release date for Germany yet.
The update comes as a surprise, as the developers actually planned a different update, which now had to be halted.
Rollout of 0.81.1 stopped
With the update, which bears version number 0.81.1 on Android devices and 1.51.1 for iOS devices, the developers actually wanted to update the game. The rollout was already in the last few days, and first trainers received the update. But now Niantic pulled the emergency brake.
On Twitter, the team explains that they had to interrupt the distribution of the new update because of unforeseen performance issues. Until these are addressed, there is now an update alternative.
Why was the rollout stopped?
It is suspected that new errors occurred due to the update of the Unity engine (which Pokémon GO is based on). However, this has not yet been confirmed by official sources. Niantic only states that there are issues.
I have version 0.81.1 – Do I have a problem now? What should I do?
If you have already downloaded the Pokémon GO update 0.81.1 through APK-Mirror or other means and have not noticed any issues, all is well.
If you have issues with version 0.81.1, you should install the new version 0.79.4. This should resolve the new issues.
Update 0.79.4 / 1.49.4 rolls everything back
For trainers, the update 0.79.4 will be available in the coming days to keep Pokémon GO playable. Data miners have already taken a close look at the patch and confirm that it is a rollback of version 0.81.1. The changes have thus been reverted.
This means:
- First, no improved power-ups
- No new Unity version
- No Gen-3 attacks
- No memory improvements
- The anti-cheat measures must wait
