The new Pokémon GO update 0.71.0 for Android brings some new features to the game. Officially there are error messages, but the code contains interesting discoveries.
With the new update 0.71.0 for Android (an iOS designation is still pending), the Pokémon GO developers at Niantic aim to fix several bugs in the game. The update is currently rolling out and is slowly but surely making its way to you. When exactly the update will be available in Germany for iOS and Android is still unclear. However, we expect it within the next few days.
The update not only brings bug fixes. Data miners have discovered interesting changes in the 0.71.0 APK.
0.71.0 APK Data Mining and Patch Notes
The patch notes for Patch 0.71.0 were found by Reddit user uniteinpain666. The patch notes explain that the search function has been improved and several bugs have been fixed:
- The search function in the Pokémon collection has been improved and allows trainers to search for their Pokémon’s attacks with the @ symbol.
- A bug was fixed that prevented trainers from seeing that they received double experience points from a raid battle due to a lucky egg.
- Various bugs have been fixed.
Good news for trainers who have been struggling with many bugs in the game lately. But that’s not all the changes. Data miners have taken a close look at the update and found changes regarding shinies, the super incubator, and more.
Super Incubator
The leaks about the special incubator continue. In the English code, the incubator is called super incubator. Currently, it is believed that this super incubator can hatch Pokémon eggs faster than regular incubators. There has also been a visual update that now depicts the device in purple. It is still unclear whether the new incubator will be available in the shop or as a reward.
The regular incubators have also been visually adjusted.
Bug Fixes
How many of the current bugs have been fixed will become clear in the coming days after extensive testing. So far, it has been noted:
- The bug system has been revised
- There is now a cooldown for raid notifications, which reduces the spam from too many messages.
- There are also changes to memory usage.
Changes to Shinies?
As reported by TheSilphRoad, there is a change in the “sparkle” of shiny Pokémon. It is still unclear what the code change will affect. Those of you who have shinies in your collection may now see a difference. The sparkle may also relate to the display of Pokémon GO on the map.
Unfortunately, there are no clearer insights so far.
Exclusive Raids
The announced exclusive raids have been updated in the game code. Apparently, the update is only for adjustments in the game. There is the emblem for successful exclusive raids “ExclusiveRaidWonEmblem” and color updates “exclusiveRaidDecalColor”. Further changes to the new raid system involve:
- Number of users in a lobby
- Raid timer and spawn timer
- “DefaultRaidItemRewards” – is probably a placeholder for raid rewards.
The shown updates do not necessarily affect the normal raid mechanics. Presumably, the raids are only being prepared for the new exclusive raids. If you notice something new during raids, please let us know.

Ditto Changed?
The code contains the new designation “METAMON_ID”. Metamon is the original Japanese name for Ditto and data miners are surprised to find a change for the monster in the APK. It is possible that the Pokémon is being prepared for the third generation.
Minor Changes
- In the Pokémon overview, you can now also search for specific movesets.
- New AR permissions for Android: The code refers to permissions on Android devices in connection with the camera, AR features, and captured photos. The impact of these changes is still unclear.
