What is this friends feature? The Lucky Friends are officially announced in this update. With this feature, you are guaranteed Lucky Pokémon when trading with your Lucky Friend.
How exactly this mechanic works is still unknown. So far, only first images from a data miner have surfaced.

What’s included in the update? In the app stores, Niantic specifies exactly 3 points that are new with the update. These include:

- You can now stack the Pokémon GO notifications.
- Various bugs and texts have been corrected, and performance updates have been made.

What stands out: Clearly, the feature with the Lucky Friends catches the eye among the three bullet points. This feature was already found in the code of Pokémon GO some time ago. Since then, players have been eagerly awaiting its release.
When will Lucky Friends arrive? The update can now be found in the app stores. So Lucky Friends should be coming to the game soon. It will probably arrive when Niantic makes the update mandatory for all players. This usually only takes a few days.
This is what will change with the feature: It looks like you will receive a message before the trade that the next Pokémon being traded will be a Lucky Pokémon.
This way, you can decide in advance which Pokémon you want to trade for a Lucky Pokémon. So you can specifically trade legendary or rare Pokémon for the coveted Lucky Pokémon.
What do I gain from Lucky Pokémon? These Pokémon cost only half the Stardust when powering up. In addition, Lucky Pokémon have at least 80% IV. So it is worth having some on your team.
