What else is hidden in the update 0.119.1 has been discovered by the experts from TheSilphRoad.
Quality of Life – Improvements affecting gameplay
Quality of life updates refer to changes that aim to make playing easier.
Shiny display during encounters
What’s new? If you encounter a shiny monster in the wild, it will now be signaled by a display. Similar to berries or weather boosts, you will find the display directly on the Pokémon, ensuring that you know when you encounter a shiny Pokémon.
An example of this is shown by Trainer unijalo:
Swipe away notifications
What’s new? The new notification system has proven useful, but it was also somewhat annoying at times. It temporarily blocked part of the screen. Now you can simply swipe away notifications if they are bothering you.
De-favoriting during trading
What’s new? If you notice that the Pokémon you selected during a trade belongs to your favorites, you can now de-favorite it while trading. Previously, you had to exit the trading interface.
New features
The update 0.119.1 brings two new features: the submission of PokéStop suggestions and the ability to share EX Raid passes.
Substituting PokéStops
This feature has already been introduced by Niantic. Initially, trainers in Brazil and South Korea can use it. There are particularly few stops there so far.
In beta phase: This function is now being fundamentally tested before being enabled worldwide. You can find more on the topic of submitting PokéStops here:
Sharing EX Raid passes
How does it work? The essential preparations for sharing EX Raid passes have now been made. The feature is not yet activated and has not been presented by Niantic, but there are a few details about it:
- You need a minimum friendship level to share. What that level is, remains unclear
- You can only share an EX Raid pass with one person “ERROR_EX_RAID_PASS_ALREADY_SHARED”
- Friends cannot be invited multiple times to the same raid “ERROR_FRIEND_ALREADY_INVITED_TO_SAME_RAID”
- The raid cannot have already started “ERROR_EX_RAID_ALREADY_STARTED”
When will the feature be activated? This remains unclear so far. The EX Raid boss Mewtwo will soon appear in all raids.
Leaks and hints about new moves, Gen 4
The following findings are hints and leaks that should always be taken with caution.
Display for EX Raid arenas?
Clear marking possible: Currently, arenas are marked with a small “sponsored” display. This indicates to trainers that it is a sponsored arena. It is possible that soon arenas eligible for EX Raids will also be visibly marked for trainers. Then, when viewing the arena, you would immediately see whether a raid could qualify a trainer for an EX Raid pass.
- IsExRaidEligible
- exRaidTag
- ClickExRaidTag
- exRaidModalSprite
Due to these lines of code, speculation about an EX Raid display is underway.
Sound for Kecleon changed

What’s new? The sounds for the unreleased Pokémon “Kecleon” have been changed. No other Pokémon has had their sounds adjusted. For some reason, Kecleon is getting more attention from developers.
Audio files for the new move Crabhammer found
What was found? The audio files for the Crabhammer move are now in the code of Pokémon GO.
Who is the move for? Crabhammer is the signature move of Krabby/Kingler. However, important data is still missing before this move could be unlocked.
Effects for Meteor Mash in the game
What kind of effect? A graphic for a comet is now in the code. This is probably directly related to the Meteor Mash move that was already found in an older update.
New move: Power-Up Punch

What kind of move? Effects for the Power-Up Punch have been found in the APK.
Who can learn the move? This move is only learned by a few species through level-ups. As a TM, it may also work for others. Krabbox and Masskito from Generation 7 can learn it. And a single Pokémon from Generation 4 – Lucario.
The speculation: These are likely the first steps to incorporate moves for the 4th generation into Pokémon GO.
Technical
These technical changes and bug fixes can be found in the new Pokémon GO update 0.119.1.
Android Camera
What’s new? The line “AndroidCameraAppService” is now in the code, which apparently relates to permissions and storage of photos from Pokémon GO. Initial testers report that they can now save AR photos on Android devices without issues. Before this update, it did not work.
Reinstallation: If you also have problems with this, restart your Android device after installing the new update. If that doesn’t help, it’s best to uninstall Pokémon GO from your phone and download the new version.
Authentication and translations
What’s new? Niantic continues to work on implementing child accounts. Furthermore, translations are now apparently being directly retrieved from the server instead of being embedded in the APK. This allows translation errors to be fixed directly without users needing to download an update.
PokéDex animations are back
What’s new? The 3D models are now back in the PokéDex. They show animations and play sounds when tapped.
