In Pokémon GO the Unova Week has started and brings numerous new features. In addition to Genesect raids, you will also find various Pokémon from Gen 5 and new Shinies in the game.
What’s new? On August 14 at 10:00 PM German time, the Unova Week started. Until August 21 at 10:00 PM, you can benefit from numerous bonuses related to Generation 5.

What new quests are there? There are only two new tasks that you can complete this week. These include:
- Win a raid
- Reward: Encounter with a Klink (Can be Shiny)
- Use 5 berries when catching Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Rockruff*, Duskull*, Mawile*, Rotom or Espurr (The Pokémon with the star can be Shiny)
Which Shinies are new? There are no surprises here. As previously announced, you can catch Genesect and Klink as Shiny. Genesect is usually only available in raids, but if you haven’t completed the special research “Champion of Nostalgia Challenge” or “Modular Investigation“, a Shiny Genesect might also be awaiting you there with some luck.
What are the event spawns? Primarily, the Pokémon from Generation 5 appear, which are already quite common. Rockruff, Mawile or Espurr are popular spawns at the event.
Klink is also more commonly found in the wild, but significantly rarer. The new Pokémon Strangely, Emolga, and Whimsicott also appear significantly less frequently.
New raid bosses for the Unova Week
What’s new in gyms: There is a complete switch of the raid Pokémon. You will now find primarily monsters from Generation 5 in raids.

All Pokémon with a star (*) can also be encountered as Shiny.
Which bosses are worth it? The bosses this week are pretty disappointing. Praktibalk and Flampion are the only monsters that have strong developments and then belong to the best attackers.
The new Shinies Genesect and Klink can also be secured. Genesect is not available in the wild, which makes the raids worthwhile.
