The Unova Event in Pokémon GO starts and brings first Pokémon from the Galar region. Additionally, new raid bosses and exciting spawns are coming.
This is the Unova Event: This event is the grand finale of the Nostalgia Challenge. Along with the special research “Champion of the Nostalgia Challenge”, you can now benefit from bonuses related to Generation 5 until June 8th at 1:00 PM local time. The special research will even continue longer.
The event brings new raid bosses and spawns, and for the first time, you can obtain new Pokémon from the Galar region and get additional Galar forms of existing Pokémon.
Spawns, Galar Forms, and Raid Bosses – The Unova Event
These are the event spawns: A lot has changed in the wild, and you will mainly find Pokémon known from the Unova region there. The following spawns are available:
- Oshawott
- Snivy
- Pignite
- Lillipup
- Herdier
- Purloin
- Darumaka
- Emolga
- Toxel
- Joltik
- Galarian Flinks
Trainers are also reporting that there are a lot of normal spawns. It is no longer like in previous events, where only Pokémon from one generation were present.
What about new quests? No trainer has reported finding a new quest yet. It seems that there won’t be any special field research during this event.
These are the new Galar Pokémon: In total, 8 new Galar forms are available in Pokémon GO. With Mauzinger and Barrikadax, there are even 2 completely new Pokémon in the game. You can evolve them with the regular candies of the Pokémon.
So far, there have only been reports of Galarian Flinks in the wild. The remaining Pokémon can be found in 7 km eggs or can be evolved.
Raid Bosses for the Unova Event
These are the bosses: The new event has also brought changed raid bosses. There are many bosses from Generation 5, but also some interesting Pokémon from other regions.

Which bosses are worth it? Rare shinies include, for example, Skorupi, Alolan Raichu, or Alolan Marowak. It’s definitely worth doing the raids if you don’t have a shiny yet.
As good attackers, Skorupi, Steelix, or Rhyperior are worthwhile. They or their evolutions are among the best attackers in the game.
