In Pokémon GO the Valentine’s Day event has started and holds a big surprise for you. There is a new Shiny! Additionally, new quests and raid bosses are active.
How long does the event last? Valentine’s Day will be celebrated until February 18th. The event ends at 8:00 PM.
Celebration includes pink Pokémon, 6 new quests, and special raid bosses. We provide you with an overview here.
Shiny Mamolida, new quests and regional Pokémon
This new Shiny is available: At the start of the event, a new Shiny was introduced unexpectedly. The shiny form of Mamolida has been introduced, which you can now catch. Here’s an image of the Shiny:
These are the new quests: In total, there are 6 new field research tasks that you can complete during the event. This includes:
- Catch 6 Fairy-type Pokémon
- Reward: 2 Razz Berries or 2 Nanab Berries
- Send 3 gifts to friends
- Reward: Encounter with a Volbeat or Illumise (both can be Shiny)
- Use 5 berries while catching Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Surskit (can be Shiny)
- Catch 20 Luvdisc
- Reward: Encounter with a Mamolida (can be Shiny)
- Win 2 raids
- Reward: Encounter with a Mamolida (can be Shiny)
- Land 5 great curveball throws in a row
- Reward: Encounter with a Pandir with hearts (can be Shiny)
Particularly interesting are the quests related to Mamolida. Remember that you can also collect quests and complete them later. For example, you can hold 3 “Win 2 Raids” quests and then complete a total of only 2 raids to receive the reward three times.
The task related to Volbeat and Illumise is also interesting. Illumise is a regional Pokémon, which cannot be found in Germany outside of events. So, if you’re also looking for the Shiny of Illumise in Pokémon GO, you should take the quest.
Which spawns are worth it? Some interesting spawns appear in the wild. Here you can also find Illumise, which you should secure. Additionally, Chanse and Luvdisc, two Pokémon in the wild, which are quite rare outside of events, will appear.
Raid bosses for the Valentine’s Day event
These are the new bosses: Coinciding with the event, there is also a lot of rotation among the raids. We provide you with the new bosses here. The Pokémon marked with a star also appear in their shiny form:

Which bosses are worth it? Here, Mamolida is also interesting. This Pokémon is otherwise primarily obtained through quests. During the Valentine’s Day event in Pokémon GO, you can also take your chance for a Shiny.
Otherwise, there is Psiau, a Pokémon that can only be obtained through raids. If you still lack the Pokédex entry, you should take your chance.
This is how Valentine’s Day has gone in Pokémon GO so far: This day has been celebrated in Pokémon GO since 2017 and repeatedly puts pink Pokémon in the spotlight. For example, Chanse appeared everywhere in 2017.
In 2018, Luvdisc was introduced. It came directly with the shiny form in the game.
Generally, the event around Valentine’s Day is always a strong event and popular among trainers because several Pokémon appear there that are otherwise quite rare. The best example is Chanse.
February is still full of events
What’s next? After the Valentine’s Day event, it goes into the hot phase around the Kanto Tour, which takes place next weekend. You can buy a ticket for 12 euros.
Additionally, there will still be raid and spotlight hours this month. A Kanto event has also been announced, where you can catch the Pokémon that you might not have been able to snag during the Kanto Tour.
