Trainers in Pokémon GO are currently looking forward to the next event. And it can only be one thing: the Valentine’s Day event. Most people expect a repeat of the Valentine event in 2018. But when can we expect this and what possible rewards await the players?
Last year, the event was announced on 08.02., which also started on the same day. It ran for a week until 15.2., ending one day after Valentine’s Day. The rewards for the Valentine’s Day event in 2017 promised mainly double candies, boosts for buddy Pokémon, and increased chances for certain Pokémon like Cleffa or Chansey.
Does the Valentine’s Day event in Pokémon GO start very soon?
Another indication of a Valentine’s Day event in 2018 lies in the fact that the Community Day was moved to the 4th week of February, on the 24th. Users on Reddit suspect that Niantic wanted to prevent an overlap between the Valentine’s Day event and Community Day.
If we look at the history of other events in Pokémon GO, it’s reasonable to suspect that the flow might repeat itself to some extent. The Thanksgiving Catch Event in 2017 offered double experience points and Stardust, similar to the event in 2016. However, there was a larger difference in presentation: The social aspect was more prominent than ever.
Other speculations suggest that quests could be unlocked for the first time. Data miners found in the latest update 0.91.1/1.61.1 for Pokémon GO that the quest feature was part of the update:
