With the legendary Mega Raids, there is now for the first time in Pokémon GO the raid difficulty of level 6. Some players are happy about this, while others find it too tough. However, one thing bothers both factions.
What’s new? Since the launch of the Air Event, there are legendary Mega Raids for the first time. Previously, you could participate in Mega Raids, but without legendary Pokémon. The debut of Mega Latios and Mega Latias was a big deal in the community. With the new bosses, the difficulty has also increased.
Some trainers complain that the raids are way too hard. However, another part says: The difficulty of the new raids is good, but the rewards are not.
Are the new raids too difficult?
This is what trainers say about the difficulty: In the first hours after the launch of the new level 6 raids, it was clear: they are challenging. Trainers warned that the new raids are really tough. One should be careful not to play with random players in small groups, as this would simply waste your raid passes.
Many players in rural areas, who rely on remote raid invitations, are having trouble with small team sizes that arise in some helper apps for raids. However, there are also opposing voices. On reddit, hotterpocketzz writes: It’s okay for level 6 raids to be this hard. He explains it this way:
“I love how challenging these raids are. This game has never been a challenge outside of PvP, and for the first time in the history of the game, I actually have to think about my team’s composition, coordinate with my friends, and stagger Megas to take down the boss,” explains hotterpocketzz. This feature reminds him of raids from other MMOs where you need to communicate to solve problems. This would be “a breath of fresh air” and he hopes that this content will serve as a benchmark for future challenging content. “The rewards are not really great, but I hope that [Niantic addresses it].”
For his opinion, the player receives a lot of positive feedback from the community.
“I don’t think it’s the difficulty [that bothers], it’s more the frustration of working with people who don’t know – or worse, don’t even try – to put together a good team. With a good group of people, these raids are no problem. If you play in a rural community or an inactive Pogo community and only have raid app randoms to help you, it can become very frustrating very quickly,” writes _DRE_ on reddit.
“The difficulty is good, but the coordination and communication within Pokémon GO is so poor that it’s not worth the difficulty,” explains Lucricious1 on reddit.
“The difficulty is not my problem, but the amount of Premier Balls is,” writes R4KD05 on reddit. “I defeated it in a good time, a very good time, considering the amount of hit points. We had over 10 players. I used strong counters and dealt a lot of damage and got 10 balls for that. That’s nonsense. If I perform the same [feat] in a normal raid, I get about 18 [balls].”
What about the rewards? The rewards and balls you receive after a victory are not good enough for the community. A major sticking point that the players agree on.
Because you need more players for the new raids and the bosses hit your Pokémon very hard. Thus, you use more revives and potions to bring back your attackers. “The current raid reward packages with revives and potions are completely untenable,” finds reddit user rockylizard.
There are now not enough items to heal, which are needed due to the strong bosses, the community says.
