What reward is it? Pokémon GO is a game where exploring is at the center. For this reason, trainers are rewarded as part of the so-called Adventure Sync when they cover a certain distance weekly.
This way, trainers can look forward to plenty of balls and stardust, but they can also receive special eggs through the system. However, a reddit user explains that this is not all that lies behind Adventure Sync. With a trick, you can also score a secret reward. We show you how this works and what to expect.
Trainer gets “secret reward” from Adventure Sync
What trick is it? Actually, the reddit user LunarScholar wanted to show in his post with a screenshot that the gyms in his area were colored white and he finds it spooky. But a detail in his picture sparked a completely different discussion in the community. Many were surprised that he has no egg in his incubator (via reddit.com).
The reddit user Lavender_sky77 joins the discussion and offers a possible explanation in the comments. He himself leaves his incubators unoccupied from Sunday to Monday. The reason for this is the “secret reward” in the form of special candies that he wants to secure from Adventure Sync on Mondays. He explains:
I don’t hatch eggs on Sunday/Monday so that I have my egg slots full and get special candies as Adventure Sync rewards.

Many trainers know nothing about “Secret Reward”
Trainers are surprised: Many players are amazed that there is such a “secret reward” in Adventure Sync at all. Until now, they had mainly secured the eggs and knew nothing of the special candies, but they are happy that Lavender_sky77 shares this info with them. The user jasonandhiswords writes on reddit.com: “Holy shit, this is huge. After 7 years, I’m still learning something new.”
And ricegator agrees (via reddit.com): “That’s right. I knew that I sometimes received special candies, but I thought it was random and not a choice between receiving eggs. Useful information!”
Is it worth it? Special candies are very popular among players because they can be converted into all other candies. So if you are missing candies to evolve a strong monster or level up, they serve as all-rounders and can be invested accordingly. Therefore, it can be worthwhile to stock up on them.
Additionally, some of the monsters hiding in the eggs of Adventure Sync can also be found in other eggs or elsewhere in the game. Therefore, they are particularly worthwhile if you are after a specific Pokémon or shiny.

How to secure the special candies
Why are there special candies in Adventure Sync? Normally, the rewards from Adventure Sync include various eggs as rewards, provided that you have walked more than 25 kilometers in a week. To have enough space for these eggs in the egg storage, Niantic introduced 3 additional slots some time ago that are only meant for the eggs from Adventure Sync and for 12km eggs from Team GO Rocket.
However, if these and all other egg slots are occupied when the rewards are distributed, you cannot receive any new eggs. To ensure that these players are still rewarded for their traveled distance, there is an alternative reward in the form of items.
Here we show you which monsters you should spend your special candies on.
Are there additional rewards? Yes, in addition to the mentioned special candies, you can also be rewarded with silver pinap berries as an alternative.
How can you secure the secret reward? To receive the reward, you must have all egg slots occupied during the distribution. Players like Lavender_sky77 take advantage of this for themselves and make sure in advance that they have 12 eggs in their storage.
So that not a single egg hatches from Adventure Sync before the distribution, they make sure not to put any eggs in the incubators in the last hours.
How many candies & berries do you get? The reward from Adventure Sync depends on how many kilometers you have walked within a week. You will receive either 3 special candies or 3 silver pinap berries instead of a 5km egg. For earned 10km eggs, you can alternatively get 5 special candies or 5 silver pinap berries.
So if you have, for example, covered a distance of 50 kilometers, you would normally receive a 5km and a 10km egg. If your slots are all occupied, you could secure up to 8 special candies this way.
When can you claim the rewards? The rewards from Adventure Sync are always distributed on Mondays at 09:00 local time. You will receive them as soon as you log into the game next time thereafter.
