Which Pokémon are we talking about? Many monsters in Pokémon GO can not only be caught in their normal form, but also have a so-called shiny variant. This usually has a different color and is correspondingly rare, which makes it so popular among players.
While shiny Pokémon like Rayquaza, Charizard, or even Perluke are highly regarded by many trainers, others are considered a real disappointment. A Reddit user’s post has now sparked the discussion about the worst shinies in the game. We will show you which monsters are not well received by the community.
Trainer finds: “Nominated for the worst shiny: Blissey”
Trainer criticizes shiny Blissey: Normally, trainers in the subreddit enjoy showing off their caught shinies. Not so for the Reddit user hiebertw07, who posts a picture of a Blissey in its normal form and its shiny form. It is titled (via reddit.com): “Nominated for the worst shiny: Blissey”
He further adds (via reddit.com): “Can you believe that someone was paid with real human money to simply reduce the saturation to 90%? Which Pokémon do you think has the worst shiny form?”
Why is shiny Blissey so bad? Although Blissey is a very popular Pokémon in the community because it is often used as a gym defender, it does not convince as shiny. This is because the normal version and the shiny variant differ very little visually.
Many trainers in the Reddit community seem to agree with this, as the post by hiebertw07 has already (as of 22.05.23 at 17:00) received more than 3,900 upvotes and more than 560 comments.
Trainers nominate their worst shinies
However, hiebertw07 is by no means alone in criticizing the appearance of some shinies. Many trainers therefore participate in the comments in a discussion about which shiny Pokémon is the worst. And the list is long, as it seems everyone has their personal shiny loser.
From baby Pokémon like Elekid and Pichu, to popular monsters like Pikachu or Garchomp, to legendary Pokémon like Zapdos or Regice, all kinds of specimens are included. But one thing they all have in common from the community’s perspective: a bad shiny design that hardly differs in color from the normal version. Thus, one can read in the comments (via reddit.com):
- OUTheMovie: “I have never been able to distinguish a shiny Elekid from a normal one without labels.”
- nicunta: “I once sent a shiny Pikachu without realizing it.”
- Bryanishired: “Regice too. Even when they stand side by side, I can’t distinguish their shiny form from their normal form.”
- JesterLilLester: “At least you see the color difference, I nominate the lines Burmy and Wormadam. But not Mothim, whose shiny is fantastic.”
- Tomezzi96: “I guess Zekrom. As far as I can judge, only the eyes seem to change. On the other hand, I might just be blind. In terms of ugly, I would probably have said Clamperl first, but I kind of like the pizza fish. On the other hand…”
However, the shiny variants of Clamperl and Lamellux are not yet available in the game at all. And many other monsters are still waiting for their shiny release in Pokémon GO. The community can surely continue its list of the worst shinies in the future.
