The Community Day in Pokémon GO has been limited to 3 hours again for several months. However, some trainers are still looking for alternatives.
What is the problem? When the pandemic began, Pokémon GO introduced various bonuses. One of these bonuses was that the Community Days were extended from three to six hours – this was first the case in April 2020.
For the following two years, this extended time remained. Those who started playing Pokémon GO during this time might not even be aware of the 3-hour events – until spring 2022. In April 2022, the event time of the Community Day was again limited to 3 hours, which has remained the case to this day.
However, to this day, there are still discussions about the times of the Community Day. Just like right now, in the Pokémon GO subreddit.
Trainer suggests change, well received by the community
This is the discussion: A trainer posted in the Pokémon GO subreddit suggesting a change to the Community Day.
The idea: From the perspective of user “NiteTerur”, Niantic should make the Community Day available all day long – and all trainers should be able to individually decide when “their” 3 hours of event spawns begin.
What other trainers say: Basically, the post has received a lot of support with over 3,600 upvotes and 256 comments. The comments revolve around the fact that players often miss the three-hour window.
Especially people who, like now during the Community Day Classic on Saturday, are at work, feel at a disadvantage: “I always work on Saturdays, which makes it a bit annoying,” comments a user (via reddit).
Although there are also Community Days on Sunday, the problem remains that you have to have time exactly within the three hours that Pokémon GO sets for the event. Such an adjustment, as the user suggests, would provide more freedom in that regard.
- “This could work like the daily adventure incense, but would last for 3 hours and bring the CD spawns,” a user suggests (via reddit).
- “That’s a brilliant idea, but they’ll never do it” (via reddit)
- “Yes! I work shifts and miss most Community Days because I’m either working or sleeping to prepare for the night shift” (via reddit).
- “You had me, but when you said that we should choose which 3 hours they spawn, you lost me,” adds another: “It’s a community day that should last all day. Otherwise, it’s not a community day, right? But a community hour.” (via reddit).
Some users note that individually selectable spawn times for all players may be too difficult to implement. However, the idea of simply letting the Community Day run all day long receives a lot of support.
That way, it would finally be much easier to choose the time window in which to hunt for the event spawns.
On the other hand, there are also some opposing voices. They argue that the “community” aspect might disappear with this expansion, and everyone would just play for themselves.
How do you currently see the Community Day times? Do the 3 hours work for you, or do you want to go back to the 6 hours? And what do you think of the community’s alternatives? Let us know in the comments.
Next up in Pokémon GO is a new event: “High Voltage” brings fresh Shinys and a Rocket takeover.
