In Pokémon GO there is the event “Mystic Blade.” However, some bonuses are only available if you invest money. A ticket costs a whopping 10 € and unlocks a Pokémon that is initially available only for money.
What kind of ticket is this? If you buy a ticket for the current event “Mystic Blade”, you unlock, among other things, a special research that brings an encounter with Keldeo. If you don’t invest 10 € in the ticket, you won’t get Keldeo.
This trend is not well received by trainers. In a survey, we wanted to know if you play with tickets. We will show you the results and the arguments of the community.
What does the ticket bring?
What’s included: With the ticket, you unlock the special research “Something Extraordinary.” You can already buy the tickets now. To unlock the special research, you should log in between December 10 at 10:00 AM and December 11 at 8:00 PM.
In the research, you will receive:
- 14 special candies
- A Keldeo T-shirt
- 12 Silver Sanan berries
- 2 incubators
- 2 Super incubators
- 2 smoke
- Encounters with water and fighting-type Pokémon
- An encounter with Keldeo in standard form
- Additionally, certain Pokémon appear more frequently when using smoke if you have a ticket
Trainers are upset about “extraordinary” prices
This is what trainers say: Already with the announcement of the event, a top comment on reddit asked, “So does every event now have to have a paid ticket?”
Recently, the Mega Raid Day with a paid ticket for 5 dollars took place, and community days have had the option to purchase additional special research for 1 € for many months now. Many themed events are now equipped with optional tickets.
Many trainers also remember the special research with Galar-Pantimos, which only rewarded buyers with the Pokémon. It took a year for it to become available for free.
In another thread, a player claims that Niantic lied in the announcement. Officially, it states, “The exclusive special research ‘Something Extraordinary’ is available this weekend for 7.99 US dollars (or the equivalent amount in your currency).” Player Horror_Ad_2920 is upset that the ticket now costs 10 € and does not match the exchange rate of 7.62 €.
In a similarly large thread that gained a lot of attention on reddit, user Jds_AR_Showcase demands “No to Pay-to-Play” and receives a lot of support in the over 800 comments. It states:
- “These prices are getting out of hand. I say no”
- “‘Something Extraordinary’ Yes, these prices are extraordinary”
- “I’m not in for this. I pay $0.99 for special events, but this is too much for what it offers”
This is how you voted: In our survey, we wanted to know if you will buy the ticket for Keldeo. On December 7 at 10:45 AM, 1,204 users on MeinMMO cast their votes:
- 607 do not want to buy a ticket, which is about 50%
- 335 say “I’m still unsure,” which is about 28%
- 262 want to buy the ticket, which is about 22%
Do you also think that Pokémon GO is developing in the wrong direction with these tickets, or do you not mind optional tickets if the Pokémon will eventually be made available for free?
