Are Kaumalat and Kapuno hatching from Dragon Week eggs? A trainer recently shared what was in nearly 200 eggs in Pokémon GO and showed how rare the dragons are.
This is how the trainer proceeded: On reddit, user shorthair94 shared his analysis from the first day of Dragon Week. Dragon Week is part of the Hyper Bonus that players unlocked during the GO Fest 2020.
Until Friday, Dragon Week is still active and offers variety in the game. Even before the event started, Niantic announced that there would be new contents in the 7-km eggs.
Trainer shorthair94 and his relatives hatched a total of 182 eggs across 13 accounts on the first day of the event and analyzed them. With the results, you get a rough overview of how common or rare certain species occur.
Kaumalat and Kapuno are mega rare
These are the results: His evaluation shows that Knacklion hatched the most frequently from the used eggs. Here are the results:
| Pokémon | Hatched | % |
| Knacklion | 52 | 28.6 % |
| Seeper | 48 | 26.4 % |
| Kindwurm | 39 | 21.4 % |
| Swablu | 22 | 12.1 % |
| Dratini | 21 | 11.5 % |
| Kaumalat | 0 | 0 % |
| Kapuno | 0 | 0 % |
| Typ: Drache | 60 | 33 % |
Keep in mind that this is an initial overview with “only” 182 Pokémon. Additionally, in such analyses, there is also a random factor. Other players might have gotten more than 0 Kaumalat or Kapuno with these 182 eggs.
What makes them special? Kaumalat and Kapuno are probably among the most coveted Pokémon of Dragon Week. Precisely because they are so special, Niantic announced their appearance in the 7-km eggs specifically. They wrote in their blog: “With a huge dose of luck, Kaumalat or Kapuno may even hatch from 7-km eggs!”
If you use the evaluation of Trainer shorthair94 as a basis, it can be seen that the hunt for these two Pokémon is currently really difficult.
In search of a Kaumalat, you will find it in the Raids for Dragon Week in Pokémon GO.

This is what the trainers say: This statistic is causing quite a stir on reddit. In the comments, there is much criticism of the incubators that can be used to hatch eggs (faster).
“I mainly stopped buying incubators for that reason,” writes chdudlow on reddit. “Why should I spend money on that and walk 3.5 km [instead of 7 km] to have a small chance of hatching a Kapuno, when I’ll probably just get a lot of Knacklion and Swablu that are already everywhere?”
Trainer Ecnahcls writes on reddit: “For a normal event, that wouldn’t be so bad. But the fact that they let us ‘unlock’ this and describe it as a Hyper Bonus, and then make Kapuno so incredibly rare, just doesn’t make sense to me.”
He says that he understands that they give trainers 2 Kapuno through the limited research. However, that so many people did not get a Trikephalo after the event is, in his opinion, sad. Trikephalo is the second evolution of Kapuno.
Did you have more luck with your eggs?
Because the GO Fest in July didn’t go so smoothly, Niantic is launching a compensation event in August. This will last three hours and bring some cool bonuses. However, not everyone can participate.
