On Reddit, a trainer shows the high stats of one of his Pokémon in Pokémon GO. However, the community wonders what he intends to do with it.
Which Pokémon is this about? On Reddit, a trainer shared a screenshot of his account in Pokémon GO. This shows the monkey Pokémon Slaking from the third generation. This rather large Pokémon is a Normal type and the evolution of Munchlax.
If you’re looking for a new game that reminds you of Pokémon GO, here are 3 options for you:
What did the trainer share? The screenshot shows the apparently impressive stats of his Slaking at first glance. The trainer posts this with the words: “Game complete, friends!”
His Slaking boasts 5069 CP (higher doesn’t get in GO), 252 HP, and 290 attack. However, this doesn’t mean much to him as it sounds at first. As a fighter, Slaking simply isn’t suited with its moveset. The Normal Pokémon deals almost no damage with it.
What does the community say? That’s exactly why the community questions the trainer’s decision to level his Slaking so high. “I am shocked that some people use valuable dust for useless mons,” writes a user in his comment.
And although some other trainers marvel at the stats and values of Slaking, many players believe that one should rather invest their resources in other Pokémon. Most trainers prefer to assign their OP spot to legendary Pokémon like Mewtwo, Groudon, or Kyogre.
“It’s not shiny, then it doesn’t matter,” this and similar sentiments are expressed in many other comments. If this were a shiny or event Slaking, more trainers could probably understand this decision.
Players don’t want to encounter him in an arena
Despite all, the stats remain impressive. And even if Slaking is not a great fighter, this Pokémon could potentially defend some arenas quite well with these values. A user writes: “Please don’t put it in any arena near me. I hate those things!”
Why is Slaking not a fighter? As a fighter, it is hardly suitable in Pokémon GO. It will likely never achieve a win for your team, no matter how high you have pushed it. As a fast attack, Slaking only learns “Yawn” which deals 0 damage.
So it relies on its charge attacks, but these can be easily blocked by your opponents in the league. Positively, it’s worth mentioning that Slaking is resistant to ghost attacks and could thus at least be a good support to defeat opposing ghost Pokémon in a battle. Everything that comes after would probably take down any Slaking eventually.
