The impact of weather boost on XL candies
This was observed: The trainer glumba writes on reddit that the weather boost has an enormous influence on the amount of XL candies received.
- During the Spotlight Hour with Schneppke, he received 160 XL candies with weather boost
- During the Community Day with Machollo he received 40 XL candies in one hour without weather boost
- These figures were obtained before sending the Pokémon, which later brought more XL candies
He explains that he took the same route during the first hour of the Community Day as during the Spotlight Hour with Schneppke. For him, the number of spawns felt about the same. However, during the Community Day, more lures were active at the stops.
For catching, he only used Ultra Balls.
By catching just under 1,000 Machollo on Community Day (with breaks), he only received 189 XL candies. Next time he wants to look for a location where the corresponding Pokémon gets a weather boost, resulting in more XL candies.
What is the reason for this? In the comments, trainer Derwan explains: “Yes. This is because the weather boost also increases the level of the Pokémon. This, in turn, increases the chance of XL candies.”
