In Pokémon GO, a trainer experienced a curious error that resulted in his Pokémon defending a gym since 1970. The fact that it has been exactly 54 years is no coincidence.
What happened to the trainer? The ahriaa_ described in his post on Reddit that he would have simply defeated a gym as usual. After the battle, he normally placed his Heiteira in the gym and continued playing. However, about ten minutes later, the gym was reset to a point before he had defeated it.
However, his Heiteira did not come back. The trainer simply defeated the gym again and placed a second Heiteira in it. What he noticed regarding his Pokémon in the gyms surprised him.

Heiteira travels back in time
How is the first Heiteira doing? The first Pokémon he placed in the gym is still defending it. However, it also traveled back in time to 1970. As he proved with a picture, his Heiteira has been defending the gym for 19907 days, since January 1, 1970.
Unintentionally, the trainer breaks the record for the Pokémon with the longest defense time in the gym. The time the Pokémon has been in the gym is no coincidence.

Why is the number no coincidence? Computers use what is called Unix time to represent the time and date. This Unix time adds a number every second since January 1, 1970. If there are issues with the time calculation, the counter can be reset to the default value.
If that happens, instead of the real date, suddenly January 1, 1970 appears. This probably also happened with the trainer’s Heiteira.
The game must have reset the gym due to a bug, and because it no longer knew how long the Pokémon had been in the gym, the counter was likely reset. Not only this trainer can show off with his Pokémon’s stats: Pokémon GO: Trainer shows one of his Pokémon with insane stats, but it’s totally useless in battles
