With the introduction of the 4th generation in Pokémon GO, many Trainers are faced with a problem: Where to put all the new Pokémon? They are running out of storage space for Pokémon.
The maximum storage for Pokémon is 1500 Pokémon. You cannot carry more than 1500 Pokémon. Many players find that too little.
Why is it too little? Especially after the 4th generation was introduced in Pokémon GO, many Trainers are complaining about a lack of space. They already had little space before. Now there are an additional 26 new Pokémon coming. Even more will come in the next weeks.
How is Niantic responding to the space demands?
So far, Niantic has not responded at all and is keeping players waiting. A few months ago, they fulfilled players’ wishes by increasing the storage to 2000 slots. There is currently nothing tangible in sight for Pokémon storage.
Announcement deleted again: In July, Niantic announced an expansion to 2000 slots. Players were excited about this change. But it has not been implemented in the game so far. It remained an announcement.
On the Pokémon website where this announcement was published, there is now no trace of it.
Why doesn’t Niantic simply increase the storage? It seems so simple: Niantic increases the storage capacity and makes money in the process. Both sides would be satisfied. So far, increasing the storage limit cost 200 coins for 50 additional slots.
Player believes server load is to blame: Twitter user “StardustPokmnGO” tweeted: “The truth is that Niantic’s servers cannot handle the extra load. 500 new Pokémon that can be carried and that with over a million active players puts a heavy load on the servers. I see no other explanation.”
The server load is just one of many possible reasons why the storage limit in Pokémon GO has not been increased so far.
The fact is that the Pokémon team announced an expansion in the summer, but nothing has changed so far.
Why do so many players wish for an expansion?
Who suffers from space issues in Pokémon GO? : There are many players who collect Pokémon with various traits. Be it a funny CP value, gender, or the shiny form of the Pokémon.
Example Pikachu: Some players do not want just one Pikachu. They want one male and one female Pikachu. Then Pikachu can still be shiny. Additionally, there are the various party hat Pikachu that also cannot be missing.
If you collect so many different forms of each Pokémon, then 1500 slots are often not enough.
What is the mood of the players?
On Reddit, the user “PokemonGOchamp” wrote about his criteria for keeping Pokémon. He also asked the question “I guess there won’t be a storage limit expansion for the Community Day?”
Many users agreed with him. OKJMaster44 replied: “I still wonder that with the release of the 4th generation and before a new Community Day, there was no expansion. Who is organizing these events at Niantic?”
The cries for help from the community are loud. Under many new announcements from Niantic, players repeatedly ask about the expanded storage offer. When Niantic will respond and announce an expansion remains to be seen.
Do you wish for more storage slots for Pokémon?
Now it’s your turn! Do you need an increase in the storage limit, or can you manage with the current limit? Vote!
