Along with the Halloween event, the new raid boss Giratina has arrived in the arenas of Pokémon GO. Videos show how trainers defeat the Pokémon in pairs.
Just a few hours ago, the legendary Pokémon Giratina became available in the arenas. Players can challenge the monster in level-5 raids. Giratina is one of the many bonuses that were unlocked along with the Halloween event.
Possible in pairs: Usually, Pokémon from level 5 raids are characterized by their special strength. It usually takes three or more players to tackle a raid. However, Giratina doesn’t seem to pose such problems. Some trainers have already defeated the Pokémon in pairs.
Diverse videos show players fighting in pairs
More and more players are uploading their videos on YouTube, where they and another trainer can easily defeat Giratina.
It wasn’t even close: In one video, players “6blackhawk6” and “CoachMK21” defeat Giratina effortlessly and win. They even have about 50 seconds left.
Why so easy? There are several reasons why Giratina is so easy to defeat. For one, friendship plays a significant role. If you have a high friendship level with your teammate, you get a bonus in battle that makes your attackers stronger. The higher the friendship level, the higher the bonus.
Weather bonus: In this case, both players had a weather bonus. In windy weather, dragon-type attackers and Giratina itself are strengthened. The Pokémon are defeated faster, yet they also deal more damage.
Simple types: Giratina possesses the ghost and dragon types. The dragon type is particularly easy to counter and has many strong and effective Pokémon against it.
Right counters: The players primarily fought with Rayquaza, the best counter against Giratina. Additionally, Salamence and Dragonite were part of the battle team, two other very good attackers. Which Pokémon are also strong against Giratina, you can find here.
Even without weather bonus: Another video shows that Giratina can even be defeated in pairs without a weather bonus. When a Pokémon benefits from the weather bonus, its attacks are strengthened. This means it deals more damage. If your Pokémon do not benefit from any bonus, they deal less damage, making Giratina harder to defeat.
But this is also achievable with Giratina. Another video provides the proof.
Tip to save time: There is another trick to save a few seconds. You need to create another battle team, into which you don’t add any Pokémon. Let the time run out while leaving the empty battle team selected.
Then the raid begins, but you are still in the lobby. Then select your battle team and go into the fight. Now you won’t see the start animation, and you can fight directly. If you are quick, you can save several seconds with this method.
Not the first raid boss to defeat in pairs: Giratina is not the first level 5 raid that can be completed with two players. The current EX raid boss Deoxys can also be defeated with two players. You can find videos of that here.
What do you think of the new raid boss? Do you dare to take on the raid in pairs?
