Pokémon GO is getting an expansion in the Pokémon Trading Card Game and is celebrating it with an event. Here you will find everything about the contents.
When does the event start? The so-called “Crossover Event with the Pokémon Trading Card Game” starts on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM.
It will run for two weeks – until Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time.
What is in the event? The event not only brings the debut of two new monsters in Pokémon GO, but also the return of Shiny Meltan, changed spawns, and a lot of collector tasks.
Here we show you in detail what you can expect.
Reißlaus and Tectass appear in Pokémon GO
This is Reißlaus and Tectass: Reißlaus is a Water and Bug-type Pokémon. It comes from the seventh generation of games.
Tectass, on the other hand, is the evolution of Reißlaus and retains the same types as its first stage. However, it won’t be easy to obtain: You need 400 Reißlaus candies to evolve Tectass.

Is there another debut? More or less, because there is a new costume Pikachu. This time the Electric-type monster appears with a Pokémon Trading Card Game cap.
Shiny Meltan is available
This is Meltan: Meltan is a special monster in Pokémon GO, because you can only get it through the Mystery Box. You receive that by transferring a monster from Pokémon GO to “Pokémon HOME” or to “Let’s GO” players on the Switch.
The Mystery Box, however, is equipped with a countdown timer so that you always have to wait a little until you can open the next one. The timer is supposed to be reduced during the event.
Meltan is a popular monster because its evolution, Melmetal, is very strong in PvP. It’s worth it to catch a Meltan. Especially during the event, you should open one or the other Mystery Box, because Meltan is available as a shiny variant with luck. These are always time-limited.
Mewtwo returns and brings new spawns
The most exciting raids: The raids will be adjusted during the event and will feature, among other things, Reißlaus – you can also encounter that in the wild.
Especially interesting is Mewtwo. The legendary monster is one of the absolute best attackers in the game and will be available for two weeks.
- Between June 16 and June 23, Mewtwo comes with the charged attack Shadow Ball.
- Between June 23 and July 1, it will instead use Psychic.
These monsters you can encounter in the wild: Changed spawns also appear in the wild. We show you all monsters, those marked with an asterisk* can be shiny.

In addition, you should encounter Bulbasaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Meltan there. So, there seems to be a way to meet Meltan outside of the Mystery Box.
