What are trade evolutions in Pokémon GO? In the Pokémon series, there are some monsters that evolve directly after trading. In Pokémon GO, it works a bit differently. Usually, evolutions in Pokémon GO cost a certain number of candies.
By trading with friends, the evolution costs for a specific selection of Pokémon are waived. You can then evolve the Pokémon for free. In this list, we show you which Pokémon this works for.
List of free trade evolutions in Pokémon GO
The trade evolutions have been available in Pokémon GO since 2020. The community welcomes the feature positively as it saves important candies that can instead be used for power-ups.

- Georok
- Can evolve to Geowaz for free after trading
- Irrbis
- Can evolve to Pumpdjinn for free after trading
- Kadabra

- Can evolve to Machomei for free after trading
- Paragoni
- Can evolve to Trombork for free after trading

In October 2021, the Pokémon Paragoni and Irrbis were newly added to this list. They were released in Pokémon GO for Halloween.
How do free trade evolutions work?
What you need to do: Find a trainer who wants to trade with you. Both accounts must have reached at least level 10. The maximum trading distance is currently 100 meters – both trainers must be within this range.

Now coordinate with your friend whether the Pokémon you want to evolve for free is available in their collection.
Keep in mind that a Pokémon can only be traded once. You cannot switch back and forth.
Once you have received the corresponding Pokémon, you can select it in your collection and have no costs for the evolution.
