In the Pokémon GO Nature Zone, you can find some versions of Riffex and Toxel. How do they differ?
What is happening in Pokémon GO right now? The big GO nature zone is on and brings a lot of Pokémon with it. This includes Toxel and Riffex.
Toxel and Riffex are currently the only Pokémon that feature the type combination Poison and Electric. They both come from the eighth game generation, that is the Sword and Shield games.
In Pokémon GO, they are now also out and make up one of the main features of the Pokémon GO Nature Zone. There, you can find several variants of Riffex – we will show you the most important differences here.
Toxel in Pokémon GO
What makes Toxel special? Toxel is the baby form of Riffex. It can evolve into Riffex – either into the High form or the Low form.
How do I catch Toxel in Pokémon GO? Toxel can only be hatched. It is contained in some other Pokémon in the 10 km eggs that you can currently collect in the GO Nature Zone. However, it seems to be very rare. So you need a lot of luck to get it.
What can Toxel do? Toxel is not a strong fighter and primarily stands out because it can evolve into Riffex. Which form Riffex takes is random in Pokémon GO. However, this Riffex cannot perform Dynamaxing. Since the evolution costs a total of 400 candies, it is better to get Riffex from raids or a Dynamax battle.
The normal Riffex: High form and Low form in Pokémon GO
What makes Riffex special? Riffex is the evolution of Toxel and brings two forms: the High form and the Low form.
In the main games, these forms differ not only in appearance but also through their “nature.” The nature of the Toxel evolving determines which form Riffex takes.
How do the High form and Low form differ in Pokémon GO? Actually only visually, as the nature feature does not currently exist in Pokémon GO.
What can Riffex do as an attacker? In the PvP league, Riffex is somewhat less useful as it does not withstand much damage, and as a raid attacker, it also does not convince much. There are stronger attackers in Pokémon GO.
In Dynamax battles, however, it is a good option and could become important as an Electric attacker.
Riffex from Raids or Riffex from Dynamax Battles – what is the difference?
Here is the difference: The crucial difference is that Riffex from Dynamax battles can also Dynamax itself. If you catch a Riffex from a raid, it does not bring this ability.
Otherwise, the two variants are quite similar.
In both variants, you have the chance for a special background during the nature zone if you are lucky. And both are significantly easier to obtain than Gigadynamax Riffex.
Here are the best counters against Riffex in raids.
Gigadynamax Riffex from Gigadynamax Battles
This is what makes Gigadynamax Riffex special: You can only obtain Gigadynamax Riffex from Gigadynamax battles that are very hard to complete. If you defeat the boss, you will receive a Riffex that can also use the Gigadynamax form. Normal Riffex from Dyna battles cannot do that.
The big difference is the special move Giga-Volt Strike, which is exclusive to Gigadynamax Riffex and deals a lot of damage.
If you want a powerful Dynamax attacker, this Riffex is an even better choice than the normal Dynamax Riffex – whether High or Low form. However, Gigadynamax Riffex is extremely difficult to defeat and you need a lot of teammates to even master the battle. You can find our tips for battling Gigadynamax Riffex here.
