How much does the ticket cost? Anyone buying a ticket has to pay about €11.99. Each ticket buyer can choose between the Silver or Gold edition.

The Special Research for Ticket Holders
What do we know about the research? It is clear that you will be working with Professor Willow in the special research. The goal is to strengthen friendships with other trainers and learn more about the Johto region.
You are also supposed to make new friendships. Make sure to save our article on how to make new friendships in Pokémon GO. Part of the research also revolves around discovering new places.
The tasks include:
- Catching various Pokémon
- Evolving Pokémon
- Earn Stardust
- Take GO Snapshots
- Defeat Grunts from Team GO Rocket
What are the rewards? Niantic promises to reward you with evolution items and mysterious radar parts. Additionally, there will be Pokémon encounters with a shiny Gyarados and Celebi. If you catch Celebi during the event, it will know the attack Leaf Storm.
Masterwork Research
What is it? The Masterwork Research for the Johto Tour is automatically unlocked for ticket holders. From Niantic, we know that you “can work on it for a long time.” It sounds like it is not research meant to be completed during the event.
What are the rewards? Through the research, you will encounter Apex Shadow Ho-Oh and Apex Shadow Lugia. It does not matter whether you chose the gold or silver edition. Ho-Oh will then know an enhanced form of the attack Sacred Fire, and Lugia an enhanced form of Aeroblast.

Golden and Silver Edition
What is it? After purchasing the ticket, you have the option to choose between the Gold or Silver edition. The differences lie in which Pokémon are attracted by your incense and in which Pokémon you have a higher chance of obtaining Shiny.
How do you choose an edition? Open your inventory in Pokémon GO. Scroll down to the dark blue Johto Tour Ticket and click on it. A window with text will now open. Scroll down in this window. Here you can now choose between Gold or Silver.
