During the Pokémon GO Tour: Johto, Pokémon like Tyranitar can learn powerful, exclusive moves. We will show you which ones they are and which are worth it.
Why are there the moves? On February 26, the GO Tour: Johto will take place, allowing Pokémon to learn specific moves during the event that they could only learn during their Community Days. For you, this is an important opportunity to make the Pokémon in your collection really strong.
Here, we show you a summary of all Pokémon and moves and which ones are really worth it.
Exclusive Moves for the Johto Tour
Which moves are there? Niantic announced which monsters will be affected by the bonus. It states “Special moves for Lugia and Ho-Oh, as well as event moves from past Community Days for Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Tyranitar, Espeon, Umbreon, and Mamoswine.”
The special moves for Lugia and Ho-Oh are likely “Sacred Fire+” and “Sacred Fire++” for Crypto-Apex-Ho-Oh and “Aero Blast+” and “Aero Blast++” for Lugia. The special Crypto-Apex forms can be obtained through the Masterwork Research of the Johto Tour.
- Espeon with Last Resort: Evolve Eevee into Espeon so it learns Last Resort
- Umbreon with Last Resort: Evolve Eevee into Umbreon so it learns Last Resort
- Meganium with Floral Healing: Evolve Bayleef (the evolution of Chikorita) into Meganium so it learns Floral Healing
- Typhlosion with Eruption: Evolve Quilava (the evolution of Cyndaquil) into Typhlosion so it learns Eruption
- Feraligatr with Hydro Cannon: Evolve Croconaw (the evolution of Totodile) into Feraligatr so it learns Hydro Cannon
- Ampharos with Dragon Pulse: Evolve Flaaffy (the evolution of Mareep) into Ampharos so it learns Dragon Pulse
- Shiftry with Acrobatics: Evolve Cacnea (the evolution of Cacnea) into Shiftry so it learns Acrobatics

How strong are the moves and which are worth it?
- Espeon is quite strong with Last Resort, but Psychic is preferred in battles. In PvP, Last Resort could be practical against Dark attackers, as it hits them without resistances.
- Umbreon is not particularly strong with Last Resort; you should prefer Foul Play and Dark Pulse. In PvP, it’s a practical move against Dark opponents.
- Meganium receives a fantastic move with Floral Healing, which is considered the best charging move. You should use it.
- Typhlosion should definitely keep Eruption. It is the best Fire attack in the game and the top choice for the Pokémon.
- Feraligatr receives a really strong move with Hydro Cannon, which you should choose if you are fully going for Water.
- Ampharos is not particularly strong as an attacker with Dragon Pulse; you should rather go for Thunderbolt. In PvP, Dragon Pulse is okay.
- Shiftry is not particularly interesting as a Raid attacker with Acrobatics. However, since the move benefits from STAB, it could be used as an alternative move in PvP.
- Mamoswine with Ancient Power is only useful for the collection, not for battling. It has too low damage output. Prefer using Avalanche or Steamroller in battles.
- Tyranitar learns a strong fast move with Counter. If you want to use your Tyranitar as a Rock attacker, that – along with Stone Edge – is your best choice. If you use Tyranitar as a Dark attacker, you should opt for Bite and Crunch. In PvP, Counter can help you well, as it builds energy quickly.
You can see that some evolutions are really worth it and significantly strengthen the Pokémon. For others, the moves are not so interesting and can therefore be easily ignored. Have you already picked out a few favorites from which you want to evolve a few specimens?
