In Pokémon GO starts tomorrow, on January 5th, the Unova Event. We will share all the info about the event and showcase the Shinies and bonuses.
When does the Unova Event run? It starts on January 5th at 10:00 AM local time. The event will be active until January 10th at 8:00 PM local time.
The event focuses on Generation 5. It is intended to be a preparation for the Kanto Tour, which will be held in February 2021. Before that, every other generation is supposed to have an event. The Unova region is starting this off.

Here are the bonuses: The bonuses revolve exclusively around the Pokémon of Generation 5. The following features and bonuses will be available during the event:
- The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Rockruff, Terrakion, Electabuzz, Roggenrola, Rotom, Zorua, Tympole, Trubbish, Solgaleo, Monferno, and Musharna.
- For the first time, Shiny Snivy will be available.
- There will be quests featuring Pokémon such as Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, and Musharna.
- From the 5-km eggs, you can get the following Pokémon: Roggenrola, Flapple, Applin, Emolga, Swablu, Snorunt, plus and Drampa.
- Genesect with the Burn Module will be available in Level 5 raids.
- A Collector’s Challenge will be launched – this is a new feature that Pokémon GO is testing for the first time.
Which spawns could be interesting? For shiny hunters, Snivy is likely to be interesting, as it is introduced as Shiny for the first time. Also, Musharna is particularly exciting. Its Shiny was introduced through a regional event that was not held in Germany. Since then, there has been no event in Pokémon GO where you could catch Musharna frequently. Therefore, for German players, it’s almost like a new introduction of the Shiny.
Monsters like Roggenrola, Zorua, or Electabuzz are also likely to be exciting. After all, they are very rarely catchable outside of events.
These events are coming next: After the Unova Event is the Sinnoh Event! After catching countless Pokémon from Gen 5, it’s time to continue with the monsters from Gen 4. This event is supposed to take place from January 12th to 17th.
After that, there are supposed to be events featuring Pokémon from Gen 3 and 2. However, there is no further information available yet.
