In Pokémon GO today, on July 14, 2021, the last Raid Hour with Deoxys in the defense form is taking place. We have summarized for you which counters you can use and tell you who should take advantage of the Raid Hour.
What is a Raid Hour? For trainers in Pokémon GO, an hour-long Raid event takes place every Wednesday. During this short event, Level 5 raids start in almost all gyms. There you can encounter legendary or mythical Pokémon.
As in the past week, Deoxys in its defense form will again be found as a Raid Boss in Level 5 raids. We show you the best counters against this mysterious monster.
Raid Hour with Deoxys in the Defense Form – Info and Counters
When does it start? The Raid Hour with Deoxys (Defense Form) starts today at 6:00 PM local time and lasts for one hour. Beforehand, you will see black Raid Eggs in the gyms that will hatch right at the start. The event will end at 7:00 PM and the raids will become less frequent.
Is there Shiny Deoxys (Defense Form)? No, unfortunately, the shiny variant of this monster is not yet available in the game.
These counters should be used: Deoxys is a mysterious Pokémon that belongs to the shapeshifters. For this reason, there are several different forms of Deoxys to catch in the game. However, during the Raid Hour, you can only encounter its defense form.
Deoxys is a Psychic-type Pokémon, which means it is weak against Dark-, Ghost-, and Bug-type attacks. The best counters against Deoxys (Defense Form) have been summarized with the help of the overview from Pokebattler for you (via pokebattler.com).
| Pokémon | Moveset |
| Mega-Gengar | Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball |
| Mega-Houndoom | Overheat and Snarl |
| Shadow Mewtwo | Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball |
| Shadow Snivy | Overheat and Snarl |
| Shadow Tyranitar | Bite and Crunch |
| Darkrai | Overheat and Shadow Ball |
| Shadow Banette | Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball |
| Giratina (Altered Form) | Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball |
| Chandelure | Hex and Shadow Ball |
| Gengar | Lick and Shadow Ball |
| Hydreigon | Bite and Foul Play |
| Yveltal | Overheat and Foul Play |
How many trainers are needed? With the most effective counters, you can already defeat Deoxys (Defense Form) with three trainers. However, we recommend asking one or two more trainers to support you.
In a larger group, it’s also a bit more relaxed. You can also participate in remote raids with friends or invite them to your raid.
Who is the Raid Hour worth it for?
The defense form of Deoxys has rather poor stats in attack and stamina according to the overview from PvPoke (via pvpoke.com). Only in defense can it truly shine. Therefore, it is not a suitable monster for use in raids. However, Deoxys can perform well in the PvP League and can be used there without any problems.
Since there is currently no shiny of this monster in the game and it is also not one of the best attackers in the game, it is likely to be rather uninteresting for most players today. If you don’t really need this Pokémon, you should save your remote and premium passes for the second day of GO Fest.
However, if you need a strong Psychic Pokémon for the PvP League or need the entry in the Pokédex, you should take this opportunity before Deoxys disappears from raids.
What’s next? You can catch Deoxys in the Defense Form until July 16, 2021, at 10:00 AM local time in Level 5 raids. After that, it will be replaced by Mewtwo as Raid Boss. On Sunday, July 18, 2021, you will also find numerous Pokémon in raids. We will show you, which legendary monsters are worth it for GO Fest.
