What kind of event is it? The adventure around the encrypted door in the Season of Origin continues and brings you the Power Plant event. This will primarily focus on Electric Pokémon. Additionally, you will also encounter a completely new Pokémon for the first time: Eguana.
Moreover, Team GO Rocket will also make an appearance during the event, bringing you some interesting bonuses.
When does the event take place? The Power Plant event starts on January 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until February 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time. Under the event section “A Bad Omen,” Team GO Rocket will start causing trouble in the game from January 24, 2022, at 12:00 AM local time.
Eguana as a new Pokémon for the Power Plant event:
Just in time for the start of the Power Plant event, you can encounter Eguana in Pokémon GO for the first time. This Electric and Normal-type Pokémon is from the 6th generation of games. It evolves into Elezard with the help of 50 candies and a Sun Stone.
The new monster will spawn in the wild throughout the entire event and will be found in special event field research.
You can recognize Eguaza by its yellow body, blue eyes, and prominently long black ears. A shiny variant will not be catchable in the game for the time being.
Is Eguana strong? Eguana is not particularly strong. Its evolution Elezard also has only average attack, stamina, and defense values. It is thus not one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO.

Throughout the entire event period, you can encounter special field research by spinning at PokéStops. From the event section “A Bad Omen,” additional bonuses will be waiting for you.
Bonuses for “A Bad Omen”
On January 24, 2022, at 12:00 AM local time, the event section “A Bad Omen” begins. As the name suggests, Team GO Rocket will take center stage in the Power Plant event. They bring you the following bonuses:
- Members of Team GO Rocket will be found more frequently in balloons and at PokéStops
- Unlearning frustration with the help of a Charged TM
Especially unlearning frustration is a bonus that is only occasionally available in Pokémon GO and therefore will be interesting for many players. All Crypto Pokémon start out catching with the Charged move frustration. Unlike normal monsters, you cannot simply change this outside of such a special event.
