In Pokémon GO today, on December 31st, the big event for New Year’s begins. We show you the bonuses and event Pokémon.
When does the event start? It starts on December 31st at 10:00 PM. The event runs until January 4th at 10:00 PM. You have 4 days to take advantage of the bonuses.
During this time, Pokémon will be in a festive mood, and monsters wearing party hats will appear in the wild and in raids.
All Info about the New Year’s Event
These are the bonuses: There are mainly bonuses related to costumed Pokémon. Here’s the overview:
- Slowpoke with 2020 glasses appears in the wild, in raids, in quests, and from eggs. When evolved, it will wear 2021 glasses.
- Pichu with New Year’s hat and Snorunt hatches from 2 km eggs.
- Pikachu with New Year’s hat appears in the wild and in quests.
- Eevee with party hat is available through quests.
- Raticate, Swoobat, and Wurmple with party hats are in Level 1 raids.
- Double candy and stardust for hatched Pokémon await.
- There is halved hatch distance.
These are the hat Pokémon: In our title image, you can see the mentioned Pokémon with their respective hats. Raticate, Swoobat, and Wurmple are also known from another event in spring.
It is not officially confirmed, but all the costumed Pokémon can presumably also be caught as shinies. So those who collect such shinies have a lot to do.
Are the egg bonuses worth it? More stardust and candy from eggs are always good. However, the event Pokémon are not particularly strong, so you don’t necessarily need the double candy there.
If you really want to hatch the shinies, you can benefit from double stardust, but you shouldn’t necessarily hatch many eggs just for the bonuses.
In January, there are still numerous other events waiting for you. We have provided you with an overview here:
