Today, on January 26, the big Johto event starts in Pokémon GO. We will show you Shinys, bonuses, and more information about the event.
When does it start? The Johto event starts on January 26 at 10:00 AM local time. It runs until January 31 at 8:00 PM local time.
The event revolves around Generation 2. It is one of the last events in preparation for the Kanto Tour, which is set to take place at the end of February.
All information about the Johto event in Pokémon GO
These are the bonuses: In line with the event, the bonuses focus on the second generation. Here’s the overview:
- The following Pokémon will appear in the wild: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Mareep, Hoothoot, Pidgey, Sunflora, Yanma, Murkrow, Scizor, Snubbull, Shuckle, and Miltank.
- Pokémon from Generation 2 will appear in quests, raids, and 5 km eggs.
- Shiny Miltank will make its debut in Pokémon GO.
- There will be a new collection challenge.
- 4 exclusive moves will be available during the Johto event.
- Entei, Raikou, and Suicune will appear sequentially in Level 5 raids until February 9.
What about new Shinys? A fresh Shiny, Miltank, is being announced. This Pokémon has not been available as Shiny before. You will notice the difference clearly, as the Shiny is blue:
Additionally, you will have more chances for Shinys during the event. The 3 starters, Mareep, Pidgey, Sunflora, Yanma, Murkrow, Scizor, and Snubbull can all appear as Shinys. So you can go chasing the shiny Pokémon.
What exclusive moves are there? Here, 4 moves from Community Days are making a comeback. They will be available throughout the entire event duration. Here’s what you can get:
- Meganium can learn Flora-Statue when you evolve Chikorita.
- Typhlosion can learn Lava Plume when you evolve Cyndaquil.
- Ampharos can learn Dragon Pulse when you evolve Flaaffy.
- Tyranitar can learn Smack Down when you evolve Larvitar.
The move for Tyranitar is particularly strong. This will make it one of the best Rock attackers in the game. You should secure this move by evolving. It cannot be taught via regular TMs.
What comes next? So far, there is no information available. The events for each generation have been completed – now, only an event for the Kanto region is missing, which will be held at the end of February during the Kanto Tour.
