In Pokémon GO, a special event for the new generation starts today, on December 2, 2020. Monsters from the Kalos region are coming into play more frequently – along with some additional bonuses.
When does the event start? The event starts on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at 10:00 AM local time. It will last for nearly a week and ends on Tuesday, December 8, at 10:00 PM.
So you have this much time to grab the bonuses from the event, which is simply referred to as “special event” without a fancy name. And this is happening while there’s a lot going on in Pokémon GO right now.

These monsters can be hatched from eggs: The egg pool is also being shuffled a bit and Gen-6 monsters can be hatched. You will find the following monsters in eggs as of the event start:
- Scoppel, Dartiri, and Leufeo hatch from 2km eggs
- The new starters Igamaro, Fynx, and Froxy are in 5km eggs
- Psiau and eF-eM can be found in 10km eggs. Psiau is also currently in raids.
What else does the event bring? During the event period, you will discover field researches and time-limited research that will bring you encounters with monsters like Scoppel and Dartiri. Psiau will still be found in raids, with Leufeo also joining the monster in 1-star raids.
Additionally, they will provide you with Mega Energy for Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur. So if you haven’t had a chance yet to mega evolve the original starters, you can now gather the necessary energy for that.
Also new in the game are the fresh XL Candies. What they can do and how to get them, you can learn here.
