In Pokémon GO today, on January 26, the Spotlight Hour with Phanpy begins. At first glance, the event doesn’t seem very exciting. But is that really the case?
What is a Spotlight Hour? This event takes place every Tuesday in Pokémon GO. For one hour, a special Pokémon is highlighted and appears everywhere. A fitting bonus rounds out the event.
This week is all about Phanpy. This is a Pokémon from Generation 2 and fits with the current Johto event, which already causes Pokémon from Generation 2 to appear more frequently.
Spotlight Hour with Phanpy – All Information
When does it start? The event starts at 6:00 PM local time and runs for exactly one hour until 7:00 PM. After that, the normal spawns of the Johto event will return.
What bonuses are there? For one hour, the spawns will be significantly increased again. You will encounter Phanpy everywhere and can generally catch more Pokémon than usual.
Additionally, there are double candies for sending Pokémon. You will receive 2 candies for each Pokémon sent.
Is there a Shiny Phanpy? No, you cannot catch the Shiny form of Phanpy yet. So, if you were hoping only for the Shiny form, you will be disappointed.
Is the event worth it? At first glance, the bonuses are disappointing. Phanpy and its evolution Donphan are not particularly strong Pokémon and additionally, the Shiny form is not available.
The bonus alone makes the Spotlight Hour interesting. You should once again sort out your Pokémon box and send away monsters that you no longer need.
So the event is worth it, but you can experience it relaxed from your couch. Send plenty of Pokémon and catch the Phanpy that appear in front of your door. Otherwise, you won’t miss anything during the hour.
What’s next? So far, there is no real information on this. No additional Spotlight Hours have been announced yet. We can certainly expect information in the next few days.
The next big event will be the Kanto Tour in February. We will provide you with information here: Pokémon GO wants 12 euros for the Kanto tour – is the ticket purchase worth it?
