In Pokémon GO today, on February 16th, the Spotlight Hour featuring Luvdisc begins. We will show you the bonuses and explain why you should participate.
What is a Spotlight Hour? This event happens every Tuesday in Pokémon GO and highlights a special Pokémon for one hour. Additionally, there is a bonus that rounds off the event.
This week is all about Luvdisc. This fits well, as the Valentine’s Day event is currently running, where this Pokémon appears more frequently.
Spotlight Hour with Luvdisc – All Info
When does the event start? It starts at 6:00 PM local time and runs until 7:00 PM. You can therefore take advantage of the bonuses for exactly one hour.
These are the bonuses: Throughout the hour, spawn points will be increased – so you will encounter many more Pokémon in general. The majority of spawns will be Luvdisc.
Additionally, there are double XP for catching Pokémon. So you will earn at least 200 XP per catch. With a Lucky Egg, you can double that number again.
This Pokémon fits perfectly with the theme of love as it has a heart shape. Niantic continuously uses this Pokémon to implement events around the theme of love in Pokémon GO. Luvdisc has been part of the Valentine’s Day event for the last 3 years.
Even outside Pokémon GO, Luvdisc plays a similar role. According to Pokémon lore, Luvdisc is very sociable and mainly swims after couples. It is also referred to as the Rendezvous Pokémon. According to the lore, a heart scale from Luvdisc brings good luck in finding a partner.
Are there Shiny Luvdisc? Yes, you can also catch this Pokémon in its shiny form. You can easily recognize the Shiny as it is golden and no longer pink. We’ll embed an image for you here:
Here’s why you should participate: The event is generally worthwhile since Luvdisc is quite rare outside of events. So if you haven’t yet caught a Shiny, you should take advantage of the hour.
In general, one can assume that we will see fewer events featuring Luvdisc in the coming months. This Pokémon fits perfectly with the theme of love and Valentine’s Day. However, that day is already over this year. Therefore, the chances of increased Luvdisc spawns might be over for now.
However, if you already have the Shiny, you won’t miss much at the event. Luvdisc is not a strong Pokémon and only makes sense if you are still looking for the Shiny.
What’s next in Pokémon GO? In the coming days, the Kanto Tour and generally the first generation will come into focus. There will be a ticketed event on the weekend, along with other events centered around Gen 1.
